I thought he wanted the 2013 club option year to be changed to guaranteed rather than an option....and I thought that was a big reasons the Cub deal fell through. If that's the case, then it was definitely about money.
But those were rumors, so who really knows... I wasn't really excited about it when they announced the possible trade anyway.

we will find the truth when he gets traded and what the conditions are. he wanted the option picked up. the sox would not do it. end of story.

fact (if you trust the tribune): the sox would not pick up the $20mil option

Peavy doesnt wanna leave the NL. that is not a money issue.

Just for everyone's knowledge, the Sox were never asked to pick up that option in order to sweeten the deal. Jake Peavy simply didn't want to come here.
