:?

I like the pitching up's and at first glance I see where the cubs could take all three. Taking 2 of 3 is more realistic....I hope.

I predict a reds sweep, minus Dusty Baker's poor managing skills minus the SillyNanny factor equals Cubs take two.

This is going to bring NSJ out of the woodwork. I hope the Cubs have an answer for Willy Tavares. For whatever reason the Cubs seem to struggle against Arroyo but I think they take the first 2 games of the set Big Z should have his game face on.

The first game in this series, will match two of the best HITTING pitchers in the major leagues. The Reds have been pretty decent this year and have some real good young players. Injuries have been tough on both teams. Volquez and Votto have spent time on the DL for the Reds, or they might be even closer to the top of the division. If the rookie pitcher going tomorrow wasn't pitching well, he wouldn't get the start and the Sox have illustrated rather well, just how tough it can be to hit guys who you might be unfamiliar with. I would love a sweep, but would be fairly happy with 2 of 3 as well. Zambrano will be well rested, so I expect him to have a very good fastball. I just hope his location is also good. It would be nice to see Wells get his first victory too. He should have 2-3 already.

5Ks over the first three innings makes my head hurt. We have the lead at least <glances about for wood>

This crappy bullpen is going to mess up another really good pitching performance. :x

2 runs, and 1 was a homer from the pitcher. In my book, thats bad. Right now Marmol is horrible and Gregg blows. Its pretty bad when your best option out of the bullpen is Angel.

Crap. Have 2 runners on and no outs in the 1st against a rookie making his first start and cannot get a run, now 2 bad defensive plays and we are down 1-0. :?

So in less then a inning we have had Theriot thrown out on a double steal because he came off the base, a throwing error by Fontenot, and now Soriano miss play a liner into a double. Theriot is a bad base runner, Fontenot can't play 3rd, and Soriano is a DH.

Love Brenly saying that Dempster needs to avoid them hitting it to right, with Fox out there. He needs to avoid left also.

The Cubs have a defensive liability at every position pretty much. I'm sick of that lazy fuck out in left field. If your hitting .240, you better give better effort out in the field.

Yeah, that play should have been made, he had enough time for a better throw.

Hendry has really dropped the ball by not addressing 3rd base. This reminds me of when DLee was out a few years back, and he let the position rot. And once it was too late, he had the brilliant idea to hand it over to Phil fucking Nevin.

He made at least 3 bad plays in the game that had a big impact on the outcome. He bobbled the ball and then overthrew 1st base in the 1st inning. Then in the 9th he did not get back to the bag when the ball was bunted to Marshall and they could have gotten Bruce. Then he cannot make a throw to homeplate on the grounder to get Bruce out at the plate. I understand this is not his position, but give me a break, a major league player has to make those plays.

Agree, its not his position, but he has been working at 3rd since spring training, if not years ago. Fontenot is just a bad player any way you look at it. Hendry over valued him, based on a few spot starts and pinch hit appearances.

I do not necessarily agree with this. I think he can be/is a solid player if they would either leave him alone at 2B, or put him back to a bench role player. The club has put him in a position to not succeed. I feel like a lot of his struggles at the plate this year are connected to his trying to play 3B and it is messing with his mind and he is trying way to hard.
