I love listening to the Rongio Sox Extravaganza when the Sox are losing. The Sox losing is just an extra bonus to me, but the real pleasure is angry sports fans. It's what Sports radio is all about. It's a place for guys (or cubbie girl) to get so angry they feel the need to call someone and vent. It's like a help line for pissed off fans.

I think Ranger should start off every call with "Hello my name is ________ and I am a pissed of Sox fan.

Without it I would have never heard of my 2 new favorite guys , Sigmund Floyd and Gordon Beckman.

On the way home from the game last night my brother was flipping back and forth to the Ranger and Chuck Swirsky on am1000. Swirsky was equal opportunity meatballs and it was pretty funny. The fireworks really started when a caller* said Hendry should be fired because of the Alphonso Soriano contract. The Sox calls sounded like the guys that couldn't get on with the Ranger.

* no, it wasn't me.

I would assume not. I would also assume most cub fans dont.

Unless a Cubs game is on WGN and I am in the car I never listen to WGN, but I do listen to the Score outside of Sox related programming, but I guess I needed to be clear, I dont listen to the post games show, because that would mean I would have to listen in on the worst date of 2 guys ever in the Farmio/DJ booth. DJ, I will at least give credit for trying a new fun loving method, which of course doesn't work with Farmio either.

Not to dis the Ranger here but I was listening to BRUCE BRUCE, and ESPN actually went dead air. So I switched over to The WSW and got the angry Sox fans calling in.

It could be WSCR's version of Baseball weekly and take the pissed off callers, I owul still be entertained.

The big lie though is that I am truely deeply concerned for Rangers health and blood pressure, I would just like him to ask the callers who Gordon Beckman is?

You tell us. The Cubs always had a Jesus waiting in the wings. And the media circus always ensued for guys like Corey Patterson, Mark Prior, Felix Pie. This savior bit is new to the Southsiders.

Let's hope for the Sox that Beckham works out better than these guys. The "savior" track record for Chicago baseball is not good.

You might not have had jebus jr, but you had your own Brooks Kieschnicks in Borchard, Anderson, what about Jeremy Reed? Pretty sure Brandon McCarthy was untouchable at one time.

Jeremy Reed is the greatest savior in modern-day Chicago baseball history - in a roundabout way. He was a key piece in the Freddy Garcia trade and Garcia was the winning pitcher in the deciding game of the '05 Series.

The key word there is "was". Kenny at some point, wised up about those 2 guys, and turned them into Freddy Garcia, and John Danks respectively. Hardly "saviors" in thier own right, but certainly they players received in those trades were better than what they gave up. Hendry had such high stock on those guys, along with Rich Hill, that he held onto them when he could have gotten Brian Roberts.

Agreed RFDC, and it appears that poor track record transcends into football too: Rick Mirer, Ced Benson, Rex Grossman, etc.

While Danks looked like a great deal, not so fast. McCarthy and actually all of the Rangers staff is getting better under a Mike Maddux

The jury is still out on Danks. I'll take my chances with a 24 year old lefty over Brandon McCarthy.

You have nothing to say about the Brian Roberts no deal, or Jeremy Reed I noticed.

Frank, I could've sworn Brandon McCarthy got injured along the way for the Rangers... :?

I am guilty of being a Cubs fan who loves the Sox fan pain. In fact, I am listening to the Sox game now. The obvious pain that the announcers and fans feel when the Sox play poorly brings me amazing joy. The post game show is crazy fun after a loss. That Ranger guy is perfect because not only does he have his own pain to deal with after a loss, but he has to put up with all the idiotic and angry callers. It is win-win for me.

That being said, nothing compares to Ron Santo's reaction to the Cubs playing poorly. I think he has a good chance of dying on the air from his overemotional involvement in each play/game.

interesting...could you establish a baseline for the board scientists? for example, what other things bring you amazing joy aside from announcer and fan reaction after Cubs and Sox loses?

The board scientists....haha. I'll keep it sports related, since like most here, that is a fun part of their life.
1) The Brant Brown dropped flyball call by Pat and Ron.
2) Devin Hester's return TD in the Super Bowl.
3) Game 5 against the Atlanta Braves in 2003.
4) The entire 2008-2009 Blackhawks Season.
5) Any Ozzie/Kenny public war of words with an ex-Sox player.
6) Harry falling off a horse.
7) Kerry Wood 20 strikeout game.
8) Sammy Sosa corked bat game. Fraud revealed.
9) Charlie Weis getting rolled on the sidelines.
10) "Roid raged" Roger throwing the broken bat at that's amore, gay Piazza.

Those are a few moments of joy in my sports world.

Nope those specific moments are enduring. But on a mundane Monday, a few Oz man notable quotes bring a smile to my face. Here's hoping the Tigers hold on!

Wow, you're such the devil's advocate!

Since my team can't win, I have to enjoy the suffering of my co-workers. Sad existence indeed.
