As a Bernstein clone, it's hard not to be a goof.

The sale of the Cubs will not happen until Sam Zell comes down from the 900 million asking price. It's a fantasy number especially when the new ownership will have 200-300 million dollars in renovation to Wrigley just waiting for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else is brought in before too long.

Look for Crane Kenny to be out asap if the Ricketts family gets it done. Bud and MLB will have to step in by mid-July to talk some sense into Zell.

That's crazy talk. You can build a new place with that kind of money. I'm going to say, $75 mil is plenty enough to give the place a hip and knee relacements, a facelift, a liposuction, a boobjob, a nosejob, AND a physical and psych therapy afterwards. They can hire me to consult and help on the matter if they want to.

Not in today's world. New stadiums cost like 700-800 million. I'm pretty sure that's what the 2 ball parks in NY cost.

You both forget that these venues were built from scratch.

You put 75 mil in cash, get the makers sponsor most of the stuff you are replacing, and you are looking at a pretty decently priced renovation.

Electrical - Square D, Leviton
Plumbing - Grohe, Kohler, Delta, etc.
Seating - will be tough since there are not many good seat makers out there, but you could call them Bank or Insurance Co XYZ seats and get some bank to pick up the tab in exchange for their logo displayed on every seatback.
Lighting - see seating
Cement - what the hell get a cement guy to ship you free cement in exchange for cast iron plaques with his logo prominently displayed all over the place.

to answer your question, "what kind of an asshole lives in indiana?" jimmy pasta... i would say one who can get a home that would go for about $2million in buffalo grove for less than half that... where he's a stone's throw from his sons...family...friends... and doesn't mind a 45-minute commute to work lately. those are the only reasons i live in indiana. tell us about your crib and why it works for you.

Drinky witnessed some very public moments in the Mac and me lovefest this week....canoodling in the common area, me burning him a mix CD, sharing a jug of wine and a loaf of bread. It's true, we're dating.

But hey, this is what it looks like to have two hosts who actually like each other, let alone in the same room. I know that's not what you see most often.

For the record, Drinky and Goff are excellent hosts in my mind, and I've listened to them both often. I was once them, watching outsiders be brought back or brought in when I thought I was ready. It's a bizarre little business...I had to leave town to make it work.
