The boys at Baseball Prospectus wrote a book called "Baseball Between the Numbers". The paperback edition features a preface titled 'Why is the American League Better Than the National League'. You and several others around here need to read this. They use a lot of computations but here's the gist of it:

'the American League is better than the National league because the American League has better players'.

'The American league started getting better players in 1991 (well AFTER the introduction of the DH) when ' several pitchers migrated to the two teams with the most aggressive recent approach to player acquisition and the biggest recent payrolls, THE NEW YORK YANKEES AND THE BOSTON RED SOX. The spill over effect of the Yanks' and Red Sox's aggressiveness was a keeping-up-with-the-jones effect, with other AL teams becoming more aggressive in chasing free-agent talent'.

So yes the AL has been better the last 4 years, but since 1991? There is no proof if you go by on field results.

And the WS champion has come from the minor league 2 out of the last 3 years, going 8-2.

Just do your part and beat the Brewers if you can. I truly hope they sweep the series with the Brewers. I'm an ardent Sox fan and fervent believer in the AL's vaunted, masterful superiority over the woebegone, downtrodden NL for that series.
