pizza_Place: Gino's East.
Jose Contreras, RHP (2-5, 5.32)
v. Bronson Arroyo, RHP (7-5, 5.36)

Clayton Richard, LHP (2-1, 3.76)
v. Johnny Cueto, RHP (6-4, 2.17)

Mark Buehrle, LHP (6-2, 3.43)
v. Aaron Harang, RHP (5-6, 3.65)

Since the Reds are a silly team, they'll be swept.

Going to the game on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing Buehrle pitch.

Decent matchups for the Sox. I expect Contrearas to dominate again.

I have kind of given up on this team. I'm still watching and rooting for wins, but I know the best thing in the long run would be to have a fire sale. I still think they would get prospects for Dye, Dotel, Thome, Pods and even Contrearas if he pitches well through the All Star Break.

Where's Hawk tonight?

Did he finally give in to his urges, go after yesterday's home-plate umpire and end up in the klink? Or did he voluntarily check himself into the psych ward?

White Sox fans remember Brandon Phillips from his days with the Cleveland Indians. "The Franchise" smacked a two-run homer & a sac fly as the Reds edged the White Sox 4-3 at the Great American Ballpark. The Indians gave up on Brandon, but he's become quite a productive ballplayer for the Reds...

This team will not reach .500 baseball again this year. The shitty loss against the Cubs was the nail in the coffin for me.

Last two days, the bullpen has hurt this team. Even Contrares (for him) pitched fairly well today, but once again, not enough run support.

And when they do score some runs, the pitching blows--a sign of a team that will be fire-selling come July.

Question is? Who goes? I hope Contreras, Colon, Dotel, Linebrink and Wise.

Give Poreda a chance; let him get some starts in.

This game did nothing to support those who argue the "superiority" of the AL central over the NL central. The Cubs, also beating the Injuns didn't either. Bronson Arroyo is no Cy Young contender, but he's a solid starter and the Reds have a nice young club. Contreras is coming back down to earth and the Sux are continuing the downward spiral I predicted. It's a lethargic looking team, that will finish no better than 3rd, with a losing record. Cueto will be going next for the Reds and he's going to be tough. Clayton Richard is gonna have his hands full. They are just lucky the Reds best hitter, Joey Votto, is not playing right now. But they still have more than enough to beat this sorry group. I'll predict 7-2 Reds today.

Steve,

I just can't wait to see your shitty Cubs fail AGAIN this year. By the way, the Cubs will also finish third this year as well. They're not leaping over the Cards and Brew Crew. Last year was the dagger in the Cubs heart and Lou is not long for managing this club. You guys beat a shitty Linebrink and beat a last place AL Central team. Yea for you.
Stick to your own Cubs thread and rejoice in the moment because you're in for a looooong season.

That was a big home run by Alexei off Cy Massett. It looks like Alexei may be finally starting to heat up.

Thornton's been great this year, but please develop a fuckin' breaking ball and/or changeup to get hitters out!

About time! Throw that slider to the righthanded hitters as well.

In my mind, Dotel has always sucked with the money he's getting.

That was one ugly win. Hopefully Buehrle will get a little better defense behind him and the Sox can win the series and end this road trip 5-3.

Absolutely. The best of luck to the Sox tomorrow. May they help the Cubs again.

That was pretty fucking ugly, but I thought it was one of the most entertaining games to watch this year...

Good work boys! 5-3 road trip (should have been 6-2) with no Quentin and Thome and Dye only playing half the games. How about you start winning some games at home!

This afternoon, the White Sox played the kind of baseball you'd wish they would play, even in their home run haven that is U.S. Cellular Field. Mark Buehrle may have very well punched his ticket to represent the Sox in St. Louis next month for the Drew Carey-looking Joe Maddon and the American League All-Stars with 7 shutout innings of quality starting pitching. More important, the Sox got all their runs today by manufacturing them, and without Jermaine Dye to boot. Dye should be back Tuesday when the James Garner/Joe Pesci-looking Joe Torre and the Dodgers visit U.S. Cellular Field after missing the last 2 games in Cincinnati with a calf injury.

From Frank

This team is bad. I can't put much effort into following them right now becuase its pretty frustrating. I'll casually follow, but I won't allow myself to get really into it unless they get to within 2 or 3 games of the Tigers.

So he gets no congrats until the Sox close within 2or 3

5-3, all on the road against teams with .500 or better records in NL Central, 7-4 overall
