I am so sick of the movement that can be seen on television and heard on radio today. Heck, I called up on the MJH show yesterday for the critics segment to grill Mariotti and nearly didn't get on. All I wanted to say was that Mariotti was unable to take what he dishes out so often. He has called Frank Thomas the "Big Skirt" and named Latroy Hawkins "LaToya". Both being derogatory (accurate or not) names that tend to question their toughness and perhaps manlihood. However, when Ozzie Guillen called Mariotti a F-- he couldn't take it. The current problem with Mac, and getting him back onto the air, demonstrates more of this kind of crap. They want to put into Mac's contract some kind of clause that would punish him for any similar problems that might occur in the future? Pleeease!!! The station is just punishing listeners, while trying to gain greater CONTROL of the on air talent. One of the things that I as a listener value most about Mac, is his honesty on air. Make him cautious about what he is saying and it's a different show. Suspending someone for saying "Kiss my ass" or "Kiss my sack" was stupid to begin with. They should have been fined a days pay for walking out early and thats all. All this stupid high drama that has ensued since, has been unnecessary and unfortunate for all concerned. Especially the listeners.

I don't think they walked out early, I think they were told to leave the premises, and report to the penalty box until further notification.

We have no idea what else occurred after the brew-ha-ha on the radio.

A couple of days suspension might have been warranted - but this contract alteration stuff is nonsense. What is Jim "The Iceman' Pastor running over there, some kind of Mickey Mouse organization?

Good one, Grid... and fairly accurate since Disney owns the Mothership. Hell, Mickey could probably have handled this situation better than that clown.

What I find funny is that these radio hosts want all the dirt on the teams/players that they cover, i.e. the fight up at the FBI shooting range, but when it comes to their own soap operas, we get squat. Silvy and Carmen off the air for 2 weeks in Janurary, nothing. Mac & Harry suspended, and all we've got is speculation on what's taking so long. Next time they want the scoop on an athlete, they need to look in the mirror.

In the spirit of the thread, I'm sick of the political correctness too. It's good in theory to get people to stop talking like Archie Bunker, but it has become so out of control that people are paranoid to say anything. That's not healthy, especially for open forum discussions like on talk radio. I'm not saying they should act like morons, but let their personalities come out and not sound like corporate mouth pieces.

That doesn't matter - do you think Pastor wants his reporters to not pry or dig for information? Same thing here - he expects guys like Dickerson to turn over rocks at Halas Hall for a story, even bothering the McCaskey family or Ted Phillips for stories, but he doesn't want anyone looking around for information on how he runs his organization. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of ways for us to remedy this particular situation; that's one of the reasons we have investigative reporters (unless one of us is going to quit our job and spend our time on Mac's disappearance).

They were told to leave that day early and they even had a little tit for tat verbal exchange down on the street before they both left. Believe me I know this for sure. Here is the problem I believe Mac is no longer the so called star of EPSN 1000 radio with the emergence of Sean Salisbury no different than when he decided to leave the other station before his contract was up and this does sit well with him. We are not just talking about a local Radio station, we are talking about ABC and Disney and Danny Mac to them is nobody so I believe they have all the right in the world to put stipulations in a contact for behavior that is detrimental to the show and to the organization. It is not about who was right Harry or Mac but what is right for the business. Who are we all kidding this spat with these 2 has exploded in the past and you could tell right from the get go that day another on air explosion was coming soon, if not that day one day soon and no doubt will happen again. When the show was just about off the air during their spat. Mac's comments were one of us won't be here come Monday and he was right he just didn't think it was going to be him....

Broncosfan, you obviously work close to the station, maybe in it, so I'll give you some credit. But you are naive to think that Mac is nothing to ABC and Disney - he is the lynchpin to owning this market. Look at the number of posts on here since June 9 (you just joined so I'll assume you haven't been able to).

Between what has gone on in the 9-12 shift, the abortion that is Dan Patrick, and now pissing on the listeners of 3-7 (we'll ignore Silvy and Carmen's show, because for all intents and purposes its in an insignificant time slot), the Mouse would have exactly ONE ratings win with Mike and Mike. The only reason it would have that is not because they are necessarily a great show, but that the competition is so God-awful. If the ABC decides to get rid of Mac, and the Score makes one single change (which is coming soon, I have to think), ESPN might as well just change formats.

Hate Mac if you want, but like Sigourney Weaver, he is the Gatekeeper to ESPN Radio existing. He built it, he can tear it down.

If you think that Salisbury is a bigger star in this market (after what, two months??), you would be dead wrong. Mac is the reason that station still exists in Chicago. A guy who has circles run around him by Clayton time and time again is not going to scare away Mac, nor would it have that much of an impact on him in any way.

You really are kidding aren't you? Because if you aren't, then MVP management has to be the dumbest dicks around. Stars are in the drive time slot, not morning mid days. I agree that they may want to make the station totally national, but that still qualifies for being an extremely stupid idea in a city like Chicago. If the thinking is M&M beat North so all national will kick ass, then once again they are dumb dicks. As has been pointed before, beating North is nothing to be proud of - it is just a fact of radio life that EVERYBODY beats North. A pet show would beat North. So, if you are in the know, I really hope you were kidding.

I have to guess that Mac makes more money doing radio than Salisbury does and the "stars" tend to get paid the most..

I hope this all works out for all you Danny Mac lovers but I find it humorous that ESPN 1000 revolves around Danny Mac. His brash and arrogance approach often turns off listeners and now is turning off the company that employs him. If Mac was placed on permanent leave I am sure ESPN radio would survive and still be competitive and that most of you would still listen to ESPN rather than those 2 ass clowns down the dial. BELIEVE ME when I tell you this I can tell 2 things for sure the blow up was much bigger than any news outlet led on and 2 Salisbury being in this market now might not be a bigger star locally than Danny Mac but Mac doesn't like one once of the spot light not being on him.........

Gospel let me tell you this and you decide if maybe I know what I am talking about and my relationship with ESPN radio 1000 and I do have a relationship with the radio station and would like it to continue.

The day of the famous Harry and Mac Spat, Space Ball or Pastor were not even in the building, Adam Delavant former producer of the MJH show was listening in his office and heard the spat beginning to brew and ran in and broke up no doubt would have been more than a verbal altercation and made the decision to pull the boys off the air and consulted with Space and Pastor Later. after leaving the station the boys had another verbal spat right on street corner and was again broken up by some of the guys with in the station...
