Arguement.

You go ahead and revel in the supposed AL glory all you want. It's the dumbest arguement in sports, so why not be the King of the Realm. I appreciate the entertainment though. Meatballs like you make the day a little sillier and the world does indeed need that. Thanks for the comedic relief.

If UHC becomes a reality, they will euthanize us long before we start shitting our pants. Got to save money, you know.

Yes, while we are brothers in all things Cub, the word comrade makes me even more nauseous than the Cub.

You think I chose comrade by accident?
Now save that discussion for another thread. This one's fractured enough as it is.

I guess I should have quoted, because that was intended for Mr. Reason. See, he has a sense of humor, while you apparently don't.

The American League of Professional Baseball Clubs, or simply the American League (AL), is one of two leagues that make up Major League Baseball in the United States and Canada. It developed from the Western League, a minor league based in the Great Lakes states, that eventually aspired to major league status. The league is often called the Junior Circuit because it was elevated to Major League status in 1901, 25 years after the formation of the National League (the "Senior Circuit"). The American League champion plays in the World Series against the National League champion after the end of every season. Through the 2008 season, American League teams have won 61 of the 104 World Series played since 1903, with 26 of those coming from the New York Yankees alone. The Tampa Bay Rays are currently the defending American League champions. The New York Yankees have won 39 American League titles, the most in the league's history, followed by the Oakland Athletics (15) and the Boston Red Sox (12).

Of course it was intended for Reason. I was joking with him about UHC and being comrades in arms you idiot. The fact that you meant it for Reason precludes my commenting on it? Fuckoff Frank.

If you want to revel in AL dominance, then I would think you a hypocrite to harp on "attendance championships". i don't think the AL has won the world series every year...roight?

One is about play on the field. One isn't. Not the same thing.

does it really make any one feel better about their team that they're in the AL? do royals fans say to themselves, "jeez my team sucks but at least our league is dominating the NL!" it makes no sense at all to get behind a logic like that.

Why would it be hypocritical though? We can argue the importance of the interleague records but it does have some on the field significance. The original comment I made was in specific reference to how the White Sox would have a much better record if they played the NL all the time. It was probably one of the most tame trash talk instances ever in the boards history. I'm honestly surprised it even got a reaction.

I just don't get why it would be hypocritical. Fan attendance doesn't have any impact on the standings. The White Sox playing well against the NL did.

The AL has been a better league for the last 5 years no doubt. The NL had a better record from '97-'03. These things are cyclical. The AFC dominated in the '70s, the NFC then dominated for 15 years and the AFC has been the stronger league since the late 90's.

The NL will turn it around at some point, just the way it goes in sports.

137-114...that is a .546 winning percentage for the AL...translates to 88 wins over a 162 game season...which is exactly what the Sox won last year over the same period...see how this all relates

i guess my argument was more about the trash talking itself. The interleague record only matters when it comes to the all star game and even then, who won last year's World Series? And who won the all star game? And as far as the Sox "dominance" of the national league, how many world series titles do they have in the last 90 years? I know that sounds like a weak argument, I'm not trying to really harp on that--but you were the one that brought up the fact that you don't get why the A's Beane gets so much love because of the fact that they haven't done anything in the post season. If the post season means the most (which it does), the AL dominance can only work if the AL team actually wins the World Series. Which the AL did not last year, nor did they in 2006. So if the interleague record means so much to you, and other Sox fans, like I said--good for you...happy for you. Same thing I say to idiot Cub fans who use the "attendance championship" angle. I just don't think it matters. I know there's a difference between the two in the sense that you are playing games versus showing up to games (which some I suppose could argue *can* affect the outcome of games, in some way). I'm just not a fan of trash talking either way.

You seem to be all over the place on this one. The fact that the Sox do well in interleague matters somewhat. It may have saved the season or at least prolonged the time until they are eliminated. That is the impact it had.

Where you go off track is when you start talking about World Series wins and the A's. I don't care that the AL wins the World Series. The White Sox are likely going to be eliminated at that point. I do care that the Sox did well in interleague play. If you see my initial entrance into this thread, it conveyed that exact thing. Clearly, winning the World Series is more important than winning a good percentage of games against the other league. I don't see anywhere that I said the same were comparable. On the level of importance, interleague play falls very low on the scale. It's relevant just coming off of the end of it but I won't even think about it again unless AL vs. NL is somehow discussed again.

You've severely overestimated just how much me, and other Sox fans really care about it. It's a dumb way to trash talk in a boring sports period. It clearly worked pretty well even with the tame nature of it.

Again, why? Why do you care? I mean unless you're being ironic in your trash talking or bragging, it just seems silly to me.

If you're going to brag about anything, just brag about the championship your team did win. The argument can end there. The interleague stuff just doesn't make sense to me.
