As they have to have 1 Cub in the ALL Star game, on the eye test I am giving it to RANDY WELLS!

I know this guy has had only 1 bad game and outside of that he has been GREAT, no matter how few games.

I suspect Lilly has similar stats of 1 or 2 bad games, but something I just dont like about Lilly is that he always pitches just well enough to keep us in the game, no matter what is going on. 3 runs by the other team, he lets up 3. The other teams pitcher is throwing ano hitter, he allows 1 hit, we killed the other pitcher for 7 runs, he allows 6.

Wells HAS done a great job. I just wonder if he has had enough starts. If not, I would go with Theriot.

I think it really should be Lilly. Doesn't he have 19 or maybe even 20 wins over the last six months? I know last year's stats aren't supposed to count, but he's really as close as this team has to a legit all-star right now. And it'd be nice to see him get in the game, as he didn't get a chance in the post-season last year.

Send Big Z.

You know how many lawns he could mow in four days?

Agreed, BF. Hell of a job by Wells this first half.

ive been advocating for wells to be the all star for a while now. hes been the best cubs pitcher since hes been on the roster. lilly also has an argument but i think wells has been consistently better despite his poor record but you only have the cubs offense/bullpen to blame for that. lee has an argument too but with pujols, adrian gonzalez, prince fielder, etc. at first there wont be room. and between hanley ramirez, jimmy rollins, jose reyes, theriot really doesnt have a chance either. it has to be lilly or wells

Jimmy Rollins is hitting .212 right now and jose Reyes is on the DL with a hamstring tear and is not expected back until after the All-Star break. So i think there is room for Theriot. You would be correct about hanley ramirez though, so you were officially 1 for 3.

it's true about j-ro. he is really underperforming, as well as the phillies as a team. they're inconsistent as hell...and with meyers out, they've got a tough road...but the mets seem to want to pave it for them.

Wells doesn't have enough wins to be an All Star. I know thats not totally his fault, but thats the facts.

Derrek Lee is really the only deserving Cub, but he is not better than Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder, Albert Pujols, or Adrian Gonzalez so its going to be a tough call.

I think Tejada will be other NL SS. Better stats than theriot, its not by much. But still better
