Leo Mazzone, the longtime pitching coach of the Atlanta Braves & briefly the Baltimore Orioles, worked a number of FOX Sports' MLB games last summer. Leo mentioned the renovations to Kauffman Stadium during a game he & Kenny Albert worked between these two teams. For years, I thought the water fountains behind center field were the signature trait of this ballpark when it first opened in 1972 with AstroTurf instead of natural grass like it has now. The Royals' stadium looks better than ever, watching it on TV. Too bad the Royals' team isn't much better!

Alexei is back at SS. Ozzie is sitting Thome and AJ while playing Dye at DH and Wise in RF. Hochevar can be a biotch when he's on and I don't like the way this one looks. Gavin's gonna have to keep this one low to give the Sox a shot at #8.

Very lackluster performance by Gavin. Hopefully Thornton can bail him out.

The first game back from the all-star break I'd like to see ROY moved to the 2-hole and Alexei moved down to 7th. ROY is more selective and does a much better job of going the other way. Maybe Alexei can rediscover his home run swing without the pressure of hitting at the top of the order.

Bats went cold after the early innings, and Floyd went bad after a good 4 innings.....they had to lose sometime. Hopefully, they win tomorrow to make it 3 of 4 in KC.

Why is Joey Chestnut hanging around the Cell? Because Alexii Rameriz is the biggest hot dog he has ever seen

Joey Chestnut won the annual "Hot Dog Eating Contest" again today at Coney Island, and probably got quite a stomachache in the process. Seriously, for a guy who's a true shortstop by trade, there have been times this season where Alexei Ramirez has gotten very careless with the baseball defensively. I think this is a story to keep an eye on in the second half of this season, regardless if the White Sox buy, sell or hold at the MLB Trading Deadline. Alexei can NOT get lazy or sloppy with the baseball! I think the time is coming where if he throws one away one more time, Ozzie will yank Alexei out of the game completely like his mentor Bobby Cox did many years ago with Andruw Jones in Atlanta.

Can't speak for the entire park, but I guess the field itself is amazing...a few years ago a friend of mine who was going to Iowa State for turf management said his class was taking a trip to see the stadium, and specifically, the field...

Shark, Kenny is NOT selling. He didn't sell in '07 when the team was 9 games under .500 and 13 games out of first and he sure as hell IS NOT selling when his team is over .500 and 2.5 games back. I expect him to bring in a starter any day now. The market is weakened by injuries to Peavy, Webb and Bedard but there are still pitchers available (Dan Haren??) that can help the rotation for a 2nd half run.

The rotation, for the most part, has been a strong point for the Sox. Inconsistent offense and kicking the ball around the infield has hurt them the most.

You can never have enough pitching and the defense isn't as bad as some lazy sports talk radio hosts (Ranger, Sports Whisperer) would have you believe, especially since ROY has taken over at 3B.

For the Sox to win the division, they need a reliable starter. They canNOT count on Contreras and Richard. Richard will pitch one good game and then three CRAP games. Here's how it will work: Richard will get one more start and pitch just good enough to earn another start. After earning this start, he'll pitch two crappy starts, thus hurting the team. Make him a reliever or send him down to develop a fucking breaking ball!

If somehow they can trade for a starter that's going to give them 6+innings without giving up crooked numbers, that'd be just peachy!

1. Buerhle
2/3. Floyd/Danks
4. Reliable Starter
5. Contereras (and when he starts sucking, Richard/Poreda)

Might be time to give Poreda a chance now over Richard.

Would be a real shame to drop these final 2 games in KC. Doesn't look too promising today.

Agreed. As of now, the Sox did a nice job of promoting Beckham, just maybe it's time to give Poreda a shot. Is Richard scheduled to pitch against the Twins? Start Poreda against the listless Tribe on Tuesday and pitch Conteras against the Twins?

Since comebacks in the late innings has not happened for the Sox this year. Frank you wouldn't know that being a bandwagoner

Looks like the Sox will cost me in my 3-team parlay. Had the Sox, Cubs, and over 9.5 in the Cub game.

Clay Richard is scheduled to start the getaway game Thursday afternoon for the White Sox vs. no-name David Huff in the finale of the short three-game series and homestand. Needless to say, Clay needs to pitch a hell of a lot better come 1:05p Thursday afternoon than he did this afternoon in Kansas City for him to stay in the rotation. I might be going to this game...
