Who would you send down/release on Monday to activate Ramirez, Johnson, and Angel? I would send down Fontenot, and release Baker and Patton. I would say send Hoff down, but I don't see them sending down 2 lefties, considering thats what they said we needed all offseason.

I've seen more than enough of Fontenot. Too errory, too bad hittery. Too exposedy.

Hoffpauir might get sent down because he still has options left.

Yeah and same for Fontenot. I think they said Fox and Blanco were out of options.

Miles should be put on a slow boat somewhere. Hendry needs to cut bait with that useless, slap-hitting, sack of shit.

He was on my list also, but since he is on the D.L, I doubt he goes anywhere.

At least one pitcher needs to go down. I believe they already have 12. I wonder if they may consider getting down to 11 just because of how good the starting rotation has been. Patten should go, but I think they have to offer him back to whatever team the Cubs claimed him from....Kevin Hart perhaps as well could be the guy from the staff if they don't want to lose Patten.

Blanco is the other guy who may have to go....nice fielder, but the Cubs just traded for Baker so he's going to stick around.

Guzman will replace Hart

Johnson will replace Fuld, I think the Cubs like Hoffpauir off the bench and if Bradley can't get going, use Hoffpauir in the lineup. I would have liked to seen a little more of Fuld.

I think Ramirez will replace Blanco. I don't think Fontenot has any options left and the Cubs just traded for Baker, so Blanco seems to be the choice.

I like Blanco's defense though, I don't get why the Cubs traded for Baker since Ramirez is coming back. If the Cubs hadn't traded for Baker you can keep Blanco and his defense and Fontenot can spot Ramirez hear and there. Baker would have made more sense when Ramirez first went down, trading for him now seems too late.

According to Pat Hughes, Fontenot has options left.

Hart back to the minors, Patton back to the Rockies and Fontenot to the minors as well. Release Miles when he is eligible to come off the DL too.

I hope when Soriano starts hitting like everyone with an IQ above 3 knows he will he starts bashing idiots who say he should be released in the head with his bat.

The same morons that want Fuld to play everyday in left wanted Hoffpauir to play everyday over Lee.

They're also the sameones who think Fox is an everyday player. There is a reason why Fox and Hoff were in the minors til almost 30, they can't hit breaking pitches or field a position. Fox hit a homer and double today off letter high curve balls, if there knee high he misses. The only prospect I would get excited about is Vitters.

If they've kept Patton on the roster this long, why would they ship him back to Colorado?

Hart and Fuld will be sent down. Samardzija will likely be sent down as well.

Hendry loves the guys curve and thinks he has a good future. But Lou doesn't trust him and basically will not use him in any game that isn't already decided, or in an emergency, when all other pitchers have been used (extra innings). If this team is to compete for a title, they can't afford to WASTE a roster spot for the remainder of the season on this guy. I have been Hoffpauir's fan since I saw him last year and so it may come as a surprise that I say, that it might be good to send Micah down too. He needs to get consistant at bats to get sharp. He doesn't get into enough games to really be his best right now. A week or two could really do him some good. In the meantime, they can figure out the roster. Hart goes down, Patton-back to the Rockies and Hoffpauir to AAA....for now. Miles gets released when he's ready to be activated and Lou gets to figure out in the next few weeks which of the group-Baker, Fox, Fuld, Hoffpauir and Blanco belong with the big club for the long haul.

That's probably why Patton is unlikely to leave, but the team should be worried about this year's roster.

Just because they have carried Patton on the roster this long (nearly half the season) does not make it the right thing to have done, nor the right thing to do from this point forward. It is not!

This is my best guess, too. If not Samardzija, then Fontenot.

While I agree with the consensus that Miles is a pile of dog crap and needs to go the reality of paying someone 3 million to play 2B in the minors or just to sit at home does not seem likely to me. He just signed to a 2 year deal so I think we are stuck with this loser even though there are obviously better options around. My guess is Fuld and Hart are gone and they cut Patton finally. He isnt that good and he has been wasting a roster spot for too long.

Why not? At least its the Cubs minor league system. They're already paying Marquis to win games for the Rockies and Vizcaino to lose games for the Indians, respectively.

Yeah soon to be followed by paying Miles and Jeff Baker to sit at home. Hendry has exposed himself to be not exactly a shrewd GM. At least its not like the Cubs have to pay Soriano for 6 more years or anything.

Vizcaino has already been released by Cleveland.

Doesn't matter who is he playing or not playing for. He's still get paychecks from the Cubs.

What is it we have in Chicago with falling in love with players over 1 or 2 good games and making our plane reservations for their Cooperstown/Canton/Wherever the basketball HOF/whaerever the hockey HOF arrival?

And when good players have a bad slump we want to throw them over for people that have one good game?

I have to say Fuld over Soriano is dumber than Hoffpauir over Lee. Hoffpauir showed a lot more potential than Fuld has.

Both are bench players. 22-25th men.
