Jake Fox is the backup C today.

That is incredibly dangerous and stupid.

Should keep Fox as a catcher, opens up a spot for someone else. And keeps Fox bat in the lineup.

They have no catcher at AAA with any major league experience. They may look for a catcher currently out of work, or make a trade for a back-up. Bako (who they released at the end of spring) is with another team, so he's out. Fox is okay, if Soto is back in 2 weeks, but those oblique strains can linger. In any case, Hill is certainly going to get plenty of playing time now.

The train wreck on the North Side just gets worse and worse.

According to Fox's minor league stats, he does have catching experience. In fact, in his 7 seasons in the minors he has spent the most of his time at catcher (52% of his games played are as the catcher). He only caught 2 games this year though, and he hasn't spent any significant time at the position since 2006.

Here's another ineresting tidbit for all the meatballs out there. Micah Hoffpauir has pitched twice in the minors, I think we know who is going to take Dempster role in the rotation. He's the next Brooks Kieshnick.

He did okay a couple seasons with the Brewers. he was a decent relief pitcher and a pretty good pinch hitter. Bit the Cubs in the ass a few times.

Perhaps Damien Miller is available.

So is Chris Widger

I dunno if Corky Miller is on the Reds or in the minors, but he could be an option too.
