One week of vacation is not going to make or break his show. As RPB said, IMO it is a no brainer. His family is more important nad he should keep his word to them and their plans.

Whatever you say. It's his choice, he had all the rights in the world. Personally, just starting a new job that required attention from the public, I wouldn't do that. He had all spring to spend with the fam.
Again, that's just me man. An opinion.
I think it won't HELP the show, and I use myself as my public research, as I'm flipped to 1000.

Whoa! I'm not in Dan McNeil's league. He could get more ass here than I could. Depends if he likes pitching or catching though.

I don't know. I've said all along that I really like the S&W show but I'd give Daa Maa Naa a shot, but now that I'm switching back I might stay there. Maybe it's just that they've been on together longer but I think it's a better show at this point.

My only complaint is that mack didn't take Spiegel with him to Canada. As far as I'm concerned the two of them should take as many vacations as humanly possible.

All you guys are a little weird about Mac. I've never seen somebody so typical or average elicit such strong emotions from so many people. Even though I like reading some of his posts I'm glad it hasn't been too often lately. The ass licking and the crapping on him are just too bizarre.

I'm glad Gloop and Sid have toned it down lately. Some of their musings have had points. It is a damn shame Walt is taking over.

I've been very busy.

Mac can go on vacation whenever he wants. No one listens to middays anyhow.

The whole "Be with the kids" thing is patronizing. I'd buy that "I needed to be with the kids" if maybe he had worked the past 52 weeks but he had what 6 months uninterrupted with his kids? It wasn't about the kids, guys. That's kind of a bullshit excuse.

Let me clarify too before you skewer me.
He's well within his rights to take a vacation/negotiate to take a vacation any time he wants.
I just think it was a dumbass time to do it.

You dont think its possible his kids look forward to this annual trip?

I dont care to argue this...but I had my daughters 3rd b day party saturday...If I was given a job a month ago...I would have told em Im unavailable july 11th...I know its different than being in a public job like he is...but thats how I see it.

and I would have questioned a company that doesnt understand the value or importance of family specifically a 3 year olds birthday party that has to be planned months in advance.

Im sorry but if you need me specifically that saturday and that time...I dont need you. (I know the economy is bad and im lucky to have 2 jobs but there are limits.)

I've heard making chandeliers takes a lot of time. Must be why they are so expensive. http://www.boingboing.net/2006/12/03/ch ... -from.html

Not being a Mac detractor, I'd like to say I have a tremendous amount respect for him. He has faced a lot of adversity in his life and continues to be successful, strive for happiness, and a generous person. Not being an ass licker I'd also like to say if I wanted to hang out with a financially comfortable almost 50 year old man that likes music from the 70's, has a nice house, pretty cool toys, and a good sense of humor I have several uncles I can call or I could scrape up one from the viagra triangle on a Saturday night. Some of you people need to get a grip, it's just my perspective.

He scheduled this vacation, I think he said last week he told 670 he'd be willing to start after it. I think the timing is off too but I'm not going to lose sleep over it or criticize. Not as big of a deal as you lovers or haters make it out to be.

I think it's entirely possible that you could look forward to it.
I also think he was well within his rights to ask for it.
I further think that this is the PD's fault for allowing this. It's dumb. If he came to me in May and said I need a week in July I'd ask that he either go BEFORE taking on his new duities or after they establish the show a bit. I think after 6 months of all the time in the world with the kids they would understand that Dad's got a new gig and that he might have to delay or advance the plans accordingly.
Whatever. It's his call. I found it turned me back to S&W today, which I really enjoyed actually.

Work at the same company for 30 years 20 years in management, I wouldn't have hired him in the first place. How old are you 32 or 33?

What is that? Is that supposed to be a sentence? Your pulling the age card? Really?

Oh you'd hire me. You'd give me a signing bonus and congratulate me for being such a devoted father. Thats how it would go down WWN.

Oh and I fixed the quote for you. Now you'll get proper credit for your grammatical dominance.

Oh and congrats on being old. Way to go!

You wouldn't have hired a guy for asking for his daughter's birthday off? That's awesome. Neither 32 nor 33, nor younger even.

Keep in mind he is divorced, so he may not spend as much time with his boys as you may imagine. In fact, that probably makes the fishing trips all that more important to both him and his sons. Dont forget that most teenagers have a little thing called school that occupies a bunch of time between late August and early June.

I have been very critical of this show, but this really isnt a topic that is worth debating. It's his family and he is entitled to do with them whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

This is probably the single dumbest comment I have seen. Who cares how long you have been doing something and how old you are? In case you are wondering I am 26 and am pretty confident with your mentality I can run circles around you.

No I wouldn't hire you or give you a bonus...if you are that fucking good why do you need two jobs? Experience does mean something.
