Ozzie Guillen likes D.Wise, and, although I've been an advocate of giving Anderson the CF job earlier this season, the fact is he hasn't hit much, and looks like a .230-.240 hitter (Wise actually looks worse at times, but, Guillen likes him).

Personally, I would have sent Fields down, and used both Wise and Anderson in late innings given that Quentin is still a question mark and Dye has limited range. Podsednik could play LF and the other two could play CF/RF.

I think the wrong guy got sent packin'. If I'm Brian Anderson's agent, I'm demanding a phone call with G.M. Kenny Williams and asking for a trade. Not to say B.A.'s much of a hitter, but he had minor league options, DeWayne Wise doesn't.

I'm not sure Brian Anderson is in position to demand anything.

Wise sucks and has no business being on an MLB roster. Anderson has been pretty brutal with the bat, but Wise is terrible

You're probably right, but the outfield the White Sox have now, BD, absolutely sucks! :x

This makes no sense. I absolutley thought it would be Wise that would be sent down. Anderson is a righty to counter Pods being a lefty. You could spot start him vs the real tough righties.

I think this has to do with options. Wise doesn't have any I'm pretty sure. Anderson can still be in the Sox control. This won't last long. Wise will evenually be cut and Anderson will be the guy off the bench. He's too good of a late defensive replacement for that not to happen.

***I put this in the wrong thread at first. Sorry***

DeWayne Wise has NO minor league options, and the White Sox feel as if they lose the journeyman outfielder via waivers, he might resurface with another contending ballclub, possibly within the Sox own A.L. Central...This despite a BA around .200.

Yeah. They'll give him a short leash to come out of his slump. If he doesn't he'll be cut and Anderson brought back up. I would have just cut him now but this won't make or break the Sox. It simply has to do with options on one player and not another. It could be corrected or Wise will start to hit. Either way, that will be good for the Sox.

More importantly, Quentin is back. Nice. Hopefully he stays healthy.

Beardown, I hope I'm wrong...CQ is damaged goods and won't hold up long. That tendon in his foot is bound to pop...

We'll see how he fields and runs. He hit .375 on his rehab assignment, so his bat seems to be coming back.

The Sox should be so lucky that he turns up on the Tigers or Twins.

Frank, it's the running part that I'm really concerned about...I hope Jayson Nix is ready to trade in his second base glove for one in the outfield. Besides, have you heard or seen the lineup for tonight's game vs. David Price, not to be confused with ex-CBS2 weatherman Dave Price?

We'll be finding out the thought process here shortly, but I would assume this has quite a bit to do with the fact that Quentin could very easily end up back on the DL. If that happens, they can recall Anderson -- who, unlike Wise, still has options -- to take his place on the roster again.

BA is the better player, but this move has a lot to do with the options status, I figure.

Ranger, I think options are definitely a big reason why Wise is still here and Anderson is headed back to Triple "AAA" Charlotte...I'm still very worried that both Quentin and Podsednik won't stay in one piece...Honest!

That's probably correct, Ranger. Good point. That's why I thought options were a part of it. If Quentin stays healthy for a few weeks, Wise will be cut and Anderson brought up.

After a miserable performance yesterday in the 10-2 Baltimore beatdown in which he walked 2 with the bases loaded, I thought Aaron Poreda was possibly on his way back to the minors...I thought a caller mentioned it after the game on the Ranger's White Sox Radio postgame yesterday. I was under the impression that Poreda was getting as much work as the Maytag Repairman in the commercials.

Ok, but if they release Wise who picks him up? What team is clamoring for a 32 yr old outfielder with a career .211 BA? They could have released him then sent him to the minors after he cleared waivers. I don't like this at all.

Then he should still be on the MLB roster, period.

Franks right BA is better than Wise, but the theory that the Sox think he might end up on the DL is just stupid. Why activate a guy who they think can't stay healthy for 2 weeks? Just a dumb move :?:

If they know a reaggravation is inevitable this is exactly the RIGHT time to bring Quentin up. The schedule is brutal from now until the end of August. Get whatever you can out of Quentin now in the hopes he at least makes it to the end of this impossible stretch.

I'd rather have Anderson over Wise but let's not go crazy here. This decision doesn't make or break the Sox.

Rosters expand in 5 weeks. Anderson will be called up in September. Maybe it's a good thing that he'll get consistent at bats until that happens.

It's also a possibility that Anderson might be traded and the minors is the only place they can show case him for opposing teams scouts.

That's what I was thinking. On the other hand, they will not find a better 4th outfielder for the price and they have him locked in for a couple more years before FA. He may not like it, but he is going to be a Sox for that time.

Anyone is a better option than Wise but Danks needs to play everyday.

I'm not sure you'll see Jordan Danks up when the rosters expand in September. :( Don't be shocked if Ozzie plays Jayson Nix in either left or right field for a game as needed. Even though Jayson went 0 for 3 starting at second base and is only batting .228 this season in limited ABs, he's become quite a utility player when called upon.

Nix has like 6 HRs and I think 6 or 7 doubles.

He can be no worse than the glove in right or left than Pods is in center, and he can be no worse at the plate than Wise.
