I had 8 minutes of listening today and Mike is going over the All Star game and it sounds like a real sports show, then Anne forces her way into the conversations with statements like "but what about that HGH" when Mike was talking about Relievers.

She is like the girlfriend, wife, etc when you are talking with nother about sports and they try to butt in with some comment, just so they can be part of the conversation at the dinner party.

It's the number 1 and most easily solved problem with the show, she needs to go. Mike knows it too, but he won't pull the trigger because he brought her in. He ignores her statements, kicks her and Fred out of the studio during interviews and argues with her about everything under the sun. IT'S A BAD BAD FIT.

Tranny has been an obvious bad fit basically from day one. I remember the first week of the the show they were getting e-mails from loyal listeners telling Mike to dump her.

It's not the only change that needs to be made but it certainly is an obvious one.

I think everyone knows that Mikes ego is way to big to admit he made a mistake like that. I used to feel bad for Anne but now she just angers me, it always sounds so awkward when she talks and when the show occasionaly gets on a roll, she jumps in and not only talks over them but raises her voice. And she carrys the whole, I'm different and open minded approach to sports, I love hockey and nascar we should talk about it more. She's pretty good with her news updates but as everyone knows, their are several stations devoted to just that or at least give you in depth news every 15 minutes or so.

Anyone hear Fred's 1st update this morning ? Not a lot of news, and North cut him off, and then tells him his job is not on the line, you aren't being judged by his updates.....

What ?

What else does Fred really contribute to the show ? Movie previews ?

Sport Updates is his main updates, just like Annie's main updates is the news - BTW, what a live ! Give top news/sports stories that generally don't change once you put the script together.

I've posted about this muchly. North needs to do 2 things.

1)lose the dimwit newswoman
2)talk sports

The show then has a shot at succeeding. Until then.....no.

It was a very poor attempt at Jim Hendry/Cubs humor.

Remember North ripping Jauron for not firing Shoop? Dusty for not canning Wendall?

Just do it Mike. It's not like your canning a single mother that needs the job. Anne will be fine. She'll go back to WGN and read news.

It's just time.

Nope, WGN is glad she's gone.

It's obvious to everyone except Mike North, and a few people close to that show that Anne has NO business on a sports radio show simply because she isn't qualified.

The only reason she has that job is because of her husband.

How many other radio voices have gone from traffic lady to cohost on a morning show with a major frequency ?

She can't contribute to a sports conversation, which North mainly talks about (that's a whole other problem - stick to sports North), she isn't allowed to speak during interviews (that's probably a good thing), and her/North just should replay Hannity/Colmes when they want to have a political debate.

In essence, what does she bring to the table besides being the wife of North's ex-boss ? That's right, she's beautiful ! North always reminds us of that!

Anne does need to get the axe, but I don't think that alone will save this show. North needs a partner, and my suggestion is Mike Mulligan; he's a likeable guy and is better when he doesn't have to be the lead voice.

In middays, you could team Hanley with Holmes or Abbatacola - Neither is a killer combination, but either one should be good enough to beat Salisbury/Rosenbloom and Dan Patrick.

Murph can move to nights and weekends until his contract is up, and then hopefully the station will show him the door too.

Pretty sure Harvey is actually her "agent".

Didn't anyone see that as a problem when they hired her? Mike North and his former boss cutting a deal to hire his wife?

.

That's no problem for Wells as he asked her out on a date after a job interview.

Anyone know anything about her contract?

I imagine Harvey was smart enough to sign her up for three years as coverage even if the show failed. Like Bon Jovi sang "we're half way there".
