Anyone got an idea why Torres is working exclusively out of the stretch?

I believe he was a reliever early in his career and is just more comfortable pitching from the stretch. He's getting some groundballs but he really needs to throw more strikes.

Well, my point was made. Everybody talks about how the Twins are done with the Yanks and Red Sox. Guess what? They just lost 2 out of 3 to the Oakland A's. Took extra innings to get their one win.

Yeah, well the Sox lost 3 of 4 to the A's. And 2 of those were shutouts.

At least he threw a strike to Burrell.

Good job by Thornton in the 8th. I may throw the remote at the TV if I see Linebrink come out for the 9th.

Thornton stays in for the ninth. Not a word about this move by Steve or Hawk.
I've only been watching since the bottom of the seventh, so maybe the duo talked about Jenks earlier on in the broadcast.
Did I miss something?

Brian, I can't say I'm surprised...The Jerry Lawler-looking Don Cooper told the Ranger on the White Sox Radio pregame tonight that Jenks wouldn't pitch tonight...

This is a nice win with us having a rookie pitcher in his debut going. He did well. Upton gave us 3 runs but Alexi still killed that ball. We're lucky today but we've given away some games too.

My favorite win of the season even though they all count the same.

Awesome job by Thornton! Great decision by Ozzie to let him go 2 innings. Keep it rolling tomorrow Buehrle and win the series.

It wasn't because Jenks failed yesterday that he wasn't in. It was because he's thrown back to back days with a lot of pitches.

But it was a good move to give Thronton a 2 inning save chance.

Mark Buehrle & Scott Kazmir wrap up the homestand tomorrow afternoon at "The Cell". SHARK has a gut feeling that Chris Getz & Jayson Nix will BOTH be in the starting lineup tomorrow...

I thought he'd go with Dotel in the 8th and Thornton in the 9th. Didn't think about letting Thornton go 2. I guess that's why I'm not sitting in the White Sox dugout. :(

He's thrown 28 pitches in two days.
Any of you guys catch the press conference with Ozzie today?

Was at the game tonight and I must say, fans were much more into this game than yesterday.

BJ Upton definitely misplayed that ball, but a win is a win.

The more Thornton works on and improves his breaking ball even more, the sky is the limit for him. He threw several breaking balls tonight to get outs. Now, Richard has to develop his breaking ball and things may just look brighter on the southside.

Ozzie left Thornton in because the Sox did not want Crawford to steal 2B for the go-ahead run. Sox were confident that lefty MT would hold Crawford. And if Eva walked, then a lefty versus lefty match-up would occur, which--percentage wise--would've played in Ozzie's favor.

Speaking in the 3rd person SHARK...oh, brother.

Kazmir has been pretty awful, the Sox should have the best of this game's pairing and take 3 of 4 in the series against a good Rays team. Whether they are 1 game out or not, going into the Detroit series, is not that important-it's still July. Whether they are playing good Baseball and winning series' is.

Yes, Jenks had pitched consecutive days, and both were a bit more than a 1-2-3 inning. He had the night off because of that.

Rogers Park Bryan, don't be shocked if Jenks gets a second day off today. Unfortunately for me, I was wrong about both Chris Getz & Jayson Nix in the lineup this afternoon. Here's the lineup Scott Kazmir will be dealing with, and you may notice Getz isn't the only regular out of Ozzie's lineup:
CF 22 Scott Podsednik
SS 10 Alexei Ramirez
RF 23 Jermaine Dye
DH 14 Paul Konerko
LF 20 Carlos Quentin
3B 15 Gordon Beckham
2B 5 Jayson "Should Be Wearing #6, Not #5" Nix
C 27 Ramon Castro
1B 7 JOSHUA Fields

By the way, when or if JOSHUA Fields starts playing like a true Major League Baseball player and NOT striking out, then I'll refer to him as Josh.

I hope Mark Buehrle can give the bullpen a breather this afternoon. The White Sox plan on starting Jose Contreras in Game 1 come 12:05p and Bartolo Colon(!) for the second at 6:05p. It may mean Carlos Torres could be immediately optioned back to Triple "AAA" Charlotte after today's game or in between games of the day-night DH tomorrow at Comerica Park.
