Well Thornton went 2 innings for the save last night, so unless you trust Pena, Dotel, Linebrink et. al to get it done (should Buerhle get in trouble) , i'm not sure who Ozzie would go to...

He's not gonna get this one, and here's why:

Hawk just jinxed him by doing his "call your sons, call your daughters" BS a 1/2 inning earlier than last time.....

I just yelled at my dad for saying it over the phone to me. And then I yelled at my brother for doing the same.

Maybe I'm a tad too superstitious.

Even as a Cubs fan, you gotta tip your cap. Buehrle is a beast, a seemingly good guy, and congrats to him

I'll give it to him, that was awesome - he's a great pitcher.

And Hawk just:
a). called Sarah Kustok "honey"
b). said Wise's play was the best he has ever seen. It was great, but best ever when your 80 years old and do nothing but watch baseball?

And unlike Zambrano, Buerhle did it against a real team.

I wasn't able to watch the game but I heard Wise robbed Kapler of a homer in the 9th.

This is an idiotic statement. Way to (classically) worry about your own team there, Sox fan. Does Buerhle's last no-hitter count, or was that not against a real team.

He said it was the greatest play under such circumstances he has ever seen.
Robbed a homer, kept the game perfect.
I see nothing wrong with his opinion.

Zambrano threw a no hitter...

 Says the guy who classlessly started the perfect game thread in the 7th inning.

I'll have to agree with him then, because I haven't seen many other plays during the 9th inning of a potential perfect game. So he was basically stating nothing then?

Yeah, Paul O'neill robbed a HR in the 9th inning of Boomer's perfect game didn't he?

Yes, that's "classless" of me Frank - . Why can't Sox fans just enjoy what happens to their own team without immediately bringing up something about the Cubs?

BTW Frank, read carefully - I said "classically" - as in in true, classic Sox fan fashion, not "classlessly" like you did - maybe you just chose your word to take thread in another direction?

That's my point exactly. So Hawk is saying it's best play under those circumstances he's ever seen, even though there is only a couple other plays to compare it to? He's trying to make a gradiose statement, but he's really saying nothing at all.

Ease off the high-horse a little Frank - contrary to the way you are posting, you weren't actually part of this thing today. Just try and enjoy it.
