Kenny Williams is going George Allen on us.

For all you youngsters out there...George Allen of the Redskins never met a young player or draft pick he couldn't wait to trade.

I'm not surprised that Jake Peavy said "thanks but no thanks" to the rumored White Sox deal, but San Diego Padres' radio voice Andy Masur feels that Peavy might still get dealt before the July 31st trade deadline. I'm not so sure that he's going to the Cubs or Braves as was rumored during the offseason...

I love to say I told you so, so I will. it was never gonna happen. The Sox were not on his list of teams he would approve a trade to. He wants to stay in the National league. He does NOT want to pitch in a launching pad, like U.S. cellular and most of all, he wants to play on a winning team that has a real chance to win a world series. The Sux are what? 5- 6 games UNDER .500??? Lost today by 19?? Why the hell would he want to uproot his family for that mess?

I have to figure Reinsdorf is in negotiatations to buy the Phoenix Coyotes and had no idea what Crazed Kenny was up to.

All of that $$$$$$ to a pitcher is very unSoxlike.

Guys I think in the long run you'll be sending Peavy sunshine and lollipops for turning this deal down. It is very suspect his arm is going to hold up. The problem he had last year lingers and could blow at any moment.

The thing I thought was a good thing if the trade was made was in the unlikely event he stayed healthy this was a talent you could have be your #1 for a couple of years. Even if you didn't win this year he could help you for a few years. Perhaps Kenny was looking at that?

And you would have kept him out of the Cardinals or Brewers.

Also his splits away from Petco Pitchers Haven are atrocious. Same reason Cub fans had doubts about him should give the Sox doubts as well. Remember Nasa would be good to move to Chicago because of the launching pads on either side of town.

Are the Sox going to try and get Brian Roberts tomorrow?

Say what you will about Jerry Reinsdorf, and the way he conducts his business involving the White Sox & Bulls, but he's sooo against giving pitchers long term contracts, which may explain in part why Jake Peavy won't be sporting the Sox silver & black. Other than Mark Buehrle, pitchers tend to break down unlike any other position on the field. It was a bold move, but Peavy's addition would've helped this roster of aging veterans, underachieving youngsters who aren't Major League ready, are abysmal defensively & bad base runners once they get on. In plain English, this deal wouldn't have helped this team this year.

It would have been the best 1-2-3 in all of MLB, bar none.

Barry Larkin, now part of the new MLB Network, was a guest on the "Dan Patrick Show" last night. The longtime former Cincinnati Reds' shortstop thought that had Peavy approved the deal to the White Sox and not stayed with the San Diego Padres, Barry thought that Peavy would've put the Sox over the top. What? Hasn't Barry seen how inept the Sox are at the plate? Hasn't Barry seen how miserable they are on the bases? Hasn't Barry seen how terrible the Sox have played defensively?

You know absolutely nothing. Glad the Cubs didn't get him, I mean, couldn't afford him :D.

Enjoy your big celebration over Peavy agreeing to waive his no-trade and go to the South (wrong) side. The Padres have tailed off and were even in discussions (according to ESPN) about trading Adrian Gonzalez, so maybe Peavy got tired of the direction that team is headed. I will not be at all surprised if Peavy is nowhere close to the pitcher he was at Petco. His 3.84 ERA on the road, will be closer to what Sux fans should expect. Plus, you should expect the guy to spend at least a month on the DL, as he has the past THREE seasons. In the end, it may well be a lose-lose situation, for Peavy and the Sux, who will be on the line for all of his huge contract. Enjoy the idea of a Cy Young pitcher coming to the Sux, the reality is he won't be ready to pitch in time to win the division, if at all this season and Detroit made the better deal. The Sux will still finish 3rd.

The Sox are not on the hook for the final year of his contract; they can choose not to pick up that $22M option.

Elmhurst Steve should be banned from the "White Sox" section. This Asshat knows nothing and should be relegated to the dum-dum Cubbie section. I vote for his ouster along with DDD. They are nothing more than shit tossers and should be treated as such...Whenever sox fan's(frank)cross over into that universe they are crucified. So go away steve bring your hoffpaur love to another section.. :? :o :(

The only reason my comments bother you, is they are accurate. When I point out how much higher Peavy's ERA away from Petco (just under 4) is, than it is in the spacious confines of Petco, it cannot be disputed. It is verifiable fact, that is easily researched. When I point out that Peavy has spent more than a month on the DL the past 3 years, it too is a fact that anyone can check on. Had I wanted Peavy when the Cubs were trying to work a deal this past winter and now wanted to berate Kenny for this deal, I would be a hypocrite. But I was ademantly opposed to the Cubs picking him up, so thats not the case. Perhaps it's bad form, to deny people like you, the opportunity to celebrate the Sox actually going after and getting a big name. But the statements I have made are backed by stats and facts, not just theory.

Face it man. You have no idea about baseball. You really don't. You've embarrased yourself multiple times this season.

Podsednik claimed on waivers by Cubs!
Jake Peavy would never go to the Sox!
Hoffpauir should start over Lee!

I will give you one thing. Your posts on baseball are becoming some of the best comedy on this forum.

Of course it's a risk. It's a lot of money and he's a pitcher. Yes, he could get hurt. That's the risk everybody takes with big money stud pitchers. But it's only a 3-year risk. If you sign a big name free agent pitcher you usually have to give 5 or 6 years. That's what Sabathia, Santana and Zambrano got.

He could get hurt. But he also gives us a better chance to win this year and the next 3 if healthy. If he's fine this year we have a very good shot in the playoffs.

Who, like Soriano and Bradley? Yea, the Cubs have signed only Hall of Famers, just like Kevin Gregg :) . If Peavy pitches well in the Cell and proves you wrong again, you need to stay in your own sandbox.

You see there's a difference from commenting and being a dick. Sox fans wouldn't waste time in the Cubs section if not for your provocations. Sox fans could sit in your section all day and rip the team you follow and point out all the failures they've had, bad personnel pickups, etc, but the majority chose not too.

Frank comments in your section because you started it by being a dick in the Sox section.

Do what you like, but when the Cubs fall short this year, expect the payback two-fold.
