I met the guy in person and he couldn't have been nicer, but yeah he comes across that way on the radio.

Dan McNeil once considered talking in movie quotes for an entire day. He could pull it off easily for 18 holes -- plus a 19th between sips of Ketel One and puffs of Marlboro Lights.

While we smacked it around at his home club, Briar Ridge, McNeil pointed to a "Scarface" house off the first green, quoted "Cool Hand Luke" ("I can eat 50 eggs") in reference to a golf bet and, when the pace slowed, summoned Rodney Dangerfield's "Caddyshack" character: "While we're young!"

Other titles mentioned between hacks: " Michael Clayton," "Rounders," "The Fugitive," "Dances With Wolves," "The Cider House Rules" and "The Shawshank Redemption" -- "the greatest movie ever made" in McNeil's book.

Even when the conversation turned semi-serious, McNeil pulled out a line from "Hoffa."

Asked about his time away from sports radio -- ESPN 1000 booted him in mid-January -- McNeil recalled mobster "Dally" D'Allesandro asking Jack Nicholson's Jimmy Hoffa: "What are we going to do now? What are we going to do next?"

TB didn't like the conflict of interest TG had in the past when he was a media critic for the Trib. He filled in on MJH for Mac (during back surgery) and openly admitted MJH was his favorite show in print and didn't have great things to say about B&B.

I'm just happy the Ditka of Suck will not be polluting the airwaves for a few.

Teddy Greenstein is sleepy radio. However, as long as Spiegel is not on the air, the Mac show will be better.

Just for the record, there won't be a transition for two reasons:
1. When the Sox have a matinee at "The Cell", Mac is there, no matter who's co-hosting...
2. The White Sox and Angels play a matinee tomorrow at "The Cell", with the Ranger's "U.S. Cellular Pregame" promptly @ 12:30p.

Bernsie has thicker skin. He isnt the type to just ban people. I think he sees that as childish. It would be much better radio to bring Teddy on and have him and Terry go at it, if they feel so strongly.
