That's a good thing. I also get annoyed sometimes by the "Mac Defense Squadron." If I think something needs to be defended, I'll do it. And I will soon regarding perhaps the dumbest thing ever written (about me) on this board. A bit pressed for time now with Cubs-Reds underway.... after an already long day (SAWBUCKS!). Dave recently posted something about "almost" being critical of something I wrote in the Sun-Times. Don't "almost" anything, Dave. Bring the heat. If something sucks, say it sucks. DD also wrote he thinks I owe Darkside an apology for lumping him in with those who thought I was a goof for going to Canada four weeks into the new show. If I overreacted to what Darkside or anybody wrote... no surprise. I get paid to overreact. If you were to look up overrreact in the dictionary.....

As for the apology... not gonna happen. With all the hateful stuff written here (not necessarily that written by Darkside)... often about me... that's a tall order. Wherever the apology line forms, I won't be in it. This is a message board and it can be a scary place for the easily offended.

Up to and including this topic, Mac long ago earned my respect because he inarguably puts himself out there and makes himself available to his media consumers (such as we) well above and beyond what one should reasonably expect. Irrespective of the notion that he's perhaps only meeting (if not exceeding) the bar that he has set for himself, I have no qualms noting that I appreciate his posts for what they are - another way to connect and communicate with his audience (not just 'to' them), and a way to potentially drum-up increased listenership.

And if I might, before the asshats (apart from SiD) start showing up en masse to make their incessant noise about how dare Dave (or, at least in this case, I) would dare deign to hold Mac up for even the faintest of praise, take the advice of ol' Doug and just 'stop yourself'. It's boring ... it's tired ... it's likely in some cases disingenuous (e.g., being a mindless sheep and piling on). I would continue, but it would belabor the point and I was just handed some absolutely delightful (real) crab dip which has now captured my attention.

Incidentally, I think Dave should apologize, but only because he didn't offer Mac the opportunity to blow Gondor's horn, so to speak!
