That didn't take long.

This sounds like a strange story. Supposedly he asked for his release from his minor league contract because he wasn't happy with his own velocity. Strange thing is he had actually been doing well at Iowa (several consecutive scoreless appearances??).

Yea I don't get it either - if was not bringing the heat anymore, understandable, but he was getting guys out. Guess he did not want to adapt as a pitcher.

Certainly explains why they felt the need to go after the lefties they got just before the deadline (Grabow and Gordzelany). Had he shown better velocity, maybe the need would not have been seen as great. Too bad, at one time (before injuries) Ryan was quite good. Of course if he was still very good, he probably wouldn't have been released either. With both guys from the Pirate trade now on the active roster, there wasn't room for him after the trade anyway.

No, not even close. If you look back, I was for keeping him at AAA until September.
No Frank your a sox fan...so you were building him a wing in the hall of fame...just like if one cub fan doesnt watch the game...they ALL dont.
After his last month, it might be safe to start building the Bacon wing in Cooperstown.
