Absolutely he's made some bad plays. I'm just saying he's helped more than he's hurt. We don't always lose the games where he fucks up in the outfield. His offense has helped us win a lot more games.

Amen to that. Brian Anderson or Dwayne Wise are not going to cut it in MLB because you can't have excellent defense with AA level offense. I'd take a guy with major league offense and sub par defense every single time. Just catch the ball like Manny... if you can do that, and you can hit .300+, I'd rather have you than these super defensive players. They can ride the bench and come in when we have the lead in the 8th inning, IMHO.

Plus there isn't always a tough play to be made for him every day. Yes, he could cost us. It's tough for him to go back on balls. He's scared of the wall. But if it's in front of him he he can run them down. Or if it's straight to his left or right he's OK. He's fast.

I'll give him a little bit of a break. He hasn't played center in years. He's getting better reads. He's getting used to it again.

Can it come tomorrow? Jose did very well in 2005 and was huge during the World Series Championship season. (BTW, is JC on the steriod list?) Ever since then, I've had enough of him; I stopped watching the Sox when he pitches because he's in his late 30's (late 40's in Cuban years), has no control and continues to not listen to his coaches concerning that damn arm angle we always hear about.

I agree with SHARK--give the Torres kid a chance again. I just loved how Ozzie took puke out without even acknowledging him.

I think Nix has done a decent job. Sox have proven they can win w/out Ramirez. Having typed that, though, I still think he should be the starting SS on one condition: leave Bacon in the two hole and put Ramirez at the bottom of the order.

This move may force AR to "focus" more. More-focused AR = more victories for the Sox.

Steroids, no. HGH, most likely yes. His rehab was way ahead of schedule.

If anyone is watching - what the hell is going on with Danks today? Bad bad bad.

Also, why was Chris Getz trying to steal third with 1 out and the right handed batting box open? That's baseball retarded. He ain't Rickey Henderson and you never make the second out at 3rd base since you can score on a single with his speed from second.

DJ thought it was a great, agressive move!

The 2 Sox I have on my fantasy team, (Danks, Quentin) have been horrible dissapointing this season.

. . . . . and the fact that it wasn't the 1st or 3rd out of the inning. I, too, am confused with DJ's logic. But, I guess it's OK, if it's only the 2nd out of the inning?

The only thing that makes sense about it, is that if he makes it, he's in position to score on a ground ball or sac fly. But you have to get a great jump and be sure you can make it, if you are going to try to steal there. Bad start by Danks. The Angels were on him every inning and Dotel was lousy, except on the pickoff move. It was getaway day and they sure let this one getaway. Santana vs Danks sure looked good on paper.

During the Ranger's White Sox Radio Network pregame show today, pitching coach (and the Jerry Lawler-looking) Don Cooper still wouldn't say who would start Saturday's game vs. Carl Pavano and the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field. If it means anything, D.J. Carrasco hasn't been on the mound since Jose Contreras got beat up like a cheap suit Tuesday night, while Carlos Torres last pitched August 1st for Triple "AAA" Charlotte, according to the team's Web site. I think Carlos is scheduled to start tomorrow for the Knights, but I think it's between him & Carrasco come Saturday night. As for today, the defense allowed 2 more errors and John Danks was lucky to get into the 7th inning this afternoon after the Anaheim offense took advantage in the first 2 innings alone.

You never make the first or last out at 3rd but it's ok to make the second out at 3rd on an aggressive baserunning move. I have no problem with what Getz tried to do.

I had no problem with what Chris Getz tried to do trying to steal third, only to get caught stealing for the 2nd out this afternoon. It was aggressive base running, and the White Sox were trying to run, just like the Angels did at the expense of backup catcher Ramon Castro.

Since Castro had a pathetic at-bat, I give Getz credit for getting to 2B and in scoring position.

Yes, we love aggressiveness and "let's get into Santana's head." However, Getz may very well have killed a huge inning (yes, we'll never know).

No confidence in Pods and Bacon to get Getz in from 2B? What if the next pitch was in the dirt? To me, that was a desperation move on Getz's part and there was no need to be desperate--especially in the second inning.

Why try and steal with a lefty at the plate providing no obstruction at all?

I thought it was costly; I didn't like the move. And when you're still two games out in a crappy division, it gets frustrating.

With crappy Contreras, no fifth starter, struggling Dank and Jenk, overused bullpen and Peavy's uncertainity, I would hope the Sox would be smart in trying to win games--even if it means letting your leadoff man and red-hot Bacon drive you in from 2B.

But, hey, he is a rookie and I do give him credit for trying.

What was the count on the hitter? If it was a 0-2 or 1-2 count and the pitcher was likely to throw a breaking ball there and if he felt he was getting a great lead....But I don't remember what the count was and could not see on the radio what kind of lead/jump he got, so it's hard to know how reasonable it was to try to steal there. But if he makes it and then scores on a ground ball or sac fly, everyone loves the move. Lets face it, this is the kind of baseball Ozzie wants his team playing. Ideally, with better execution.

Clearly, Getz is involved in the drug trade; with him trying to steal bags and all.

Steve, to be honest, I don't know. Your point is well-taken. Now, why on earth would you be listening to the Sox game? From your avatar, I can surmise that you're a Cubs fan? :)
