Lots of games left and now they will return to Wrigley, where they have been VERY good this season again. Can't wait for the Pedro Martinez/Jeff Samardzija start on Wednesday. That should be interesting. Which, if either, goes 5 innings? Might be a good one to bet the over.

I don't know if a major league team has ever played a minor league team, but if it happened, that's how I imagine it would look like.

Correctamundo. See what happens when the Cubs face a powder puff squad as opposed to a real MLB team?

So Frank, what's your excuse for the Sox losing 2 of 3 to the powder puff Indians?

There is no excuse. They played like shit. Its the 2nd time this season the Injuns have taken a series from the Sox, and its frustrating

However just before that, the Sox won series from the Yankees and Angels, 2 of the best teams in baseball. The Cubs haven't won a series against a +.500 team since April, which shows that the Cubs cannot compete with the elite teams in the league.

For someone who 'hates' the Cubs, you sure do spend a lot of time researching them, Frank.

Yes, I researched that. Its not like anybody here listens to sports radio, so I certainly could not have heard that little nugget mentioned on the Afternoon Saloon yesterday...

The Cubs just need to keep close to the Cardinals, get everyone (Zambrano and especially Ramirez) healthy and get hot down the stretch heading into the post-season. Lots of games to play still.

Let's not forget Frankie, that the Cubs and Sox are both 3 games back of pretty average teams. I know you love giving it to Steve, but just don't want you to forget that. 8)

Yes but The Sox are adding Alex Rios today and Jake Peavy in a couple weeks while the cubs seem to be subtracting players on a daily basis. A division championship certainly looks brighter on the southside. 8)

You are correct sir. I have not ignored my team's crap play over last 4, 5 games.

But any chance to throw shit at steve I will take.

It's not as if I expect the Cubs to win the series this season (2008 yes, 2009 no). Hendry made all the wrong moves (new movie title) this winter. He did all kinds of things wrong. Didn't get the leadoff man I wanted (Roberts-could have had him for Marshall and DeRosa) didn't sign Abreau or Ibanez, but got Bradley instead, picked up Gregg, rather than Hoffman, Traded DeRosa anyway for nothing and picked up Miles. How can I reasonably expect anything except MAYBE a division championship this season? If they do win the Central, I don't expect them to get to the Series, much less win it. BUT, if they get some guys hot at the right time, as the Cardinals proved in 2006, anything can happen. But my expectations are not very high, so any disappointment over 2009, would be minimal.

You're backpeddling on the boards here quicker than the Cubs are in the standings.

The stars will align in 2009 was just the best rhyme I could come up with. I have not had much belief in this squad since Hendry put it together. I have been railing against the moves Hendry has made for this season since the winter. I have continued to lambast the GM during the season and do so again today. I have not begun to do this today, as anyone who visits this section of the board regularly knows. No change. I still believe the team has a real chance to win the division, but even if they do, I don't see them going anywhere in 2009. With the Cardinals additions of DeRosa, Lugo and Holliday, they are going to be very tough to catch, but their pitching is not great after Carpenter and Wainwright, so they can still be beat.

You Cub Fans had one whole season of Dipshitfest....2008...a "celebration" of 100 years of failure fueled by the media and the Dipshit Cubbie marketing department and slick money hustling fans with trademarked slogans..."BELIEVE"..."IT'S GONNA HAPPEN"!!!!
Guess what......any new owner is going to have to pour money into the money maker...THE BALLPARK....and not waste it on free agents and various other breaking down and soon to break down ballplayers!!!!
Listen to that window of opportunity closing!!!!!
For about a decade!!!!
Enjoy Soriano
