I'm glad the Bears are solid at tight end and running back, but there is no way Devin Hester is a no. 1 receiver. He's not even the best returner on the team any more. He's trying too hard to be Steve Smith, when he was the best kick returner since Gale Sayers (I wonder who messed him up???). I was watching that Soldier On DVD of the 2002 season and the receivers were: Dez White, Ahmad Merritt, Marty Booker and Marcus Robinson. The team's record was 4-12 that season. You can't tell me that any of the Bears receivers are better than those guys. I think this Vegas line on Bears' wins this season being 8 is realistic.

I dont care if Marvin Harrison is 50 years old, he would be a better WR than Hester right now.
Lovie is a fool for taking a special teams return Man & handing him the #1 WR job.
We gotta hope that Bennett & Rideau step up this year.
Holt was available too & the Bears should have picked him up.
The Bears could lead the NFL in dropped passes this year.

Not only is Hester not a #1 WR, I don't even think he's a receiver.

He was the absolute best at what he was doing to start his career and for some reason the Bears thought it would be in his and the teams best interest to make him a WR. If you're going to put him out there at WR, just have him run as fast as he can down the field and chuck it up to him. From everything I've heard about Devin, he's not really the sharpest guy on the team (Mully's polite way of putting it was: " Things come hard for him".) and I don't know if he's ever going to grasp a playbook.

I dont think he has to be a "#1" receiver. Last year what you couldnt see on TV was Hester beating his guy by three steps down the field with single coverage, knowing Orton couldnt get him the ball. This year he will draw the safety over and clear the field for Olsen, Clark or Bennett. And if Cutler can get it to him open, we actually have a serious long threat.
We need guys who can catch the damn ball, unlike Davis who dropped too many last year, and it will be fine. 10-6.

From dictionary.com:
a small company or group of people, esp. a gang of miners or a small corps of workers.

Why is it that it takes professional sports management execs and team execs so long to see things that we see???????

I understand salaries limit drastic changes sometimes, but more often than not they are used as crutch for not making a change!

This Bear WR crew is pathetic. it has been pathetic and worse the biggest asset they have, Hesters speed is unused!
