I got this second hand because I don't listen. But a friend of mine told me they were discussing their wild night on the air and Pappy said that he was in bed by 12:30. Then my buddy said that "the girl" corrected him and said it was 2am. Pappy responded something like "see dats why I don't like talking about dis on da air".

Anybody listen? If its true what a total dis to the listeners and disrespect for his job. They send him out to Detroit and on the heels of learning he finished 2nd to Mike & Mike he's out until the wee hours of the morning before his show. What a joke.

i caught part of it. to be honest i hope pappy had a good time. i could care less what he does on his own time, and he still made it to the show and put in a full day. i don't see the problem here.

he's just a talk radio host, not a paramedic. why cant he go out and drink? it sure makes for good stories on the air, but of course its not politically correct to talk about drinking

why is this world full of babied pre-madonnas? im not meaning you, beardown, but it seems this world is just turning into one big vagina.

Ike you are an idiot on a few levels

"it sure makes for good stories on the air"

Are you out of your mind? Mike's drunk stories are brutal. "So we was at da steakhouse and had a bunch of drinks and I'm starting to get plastered. Den we goes to da neks door bar and did a bunch of shots. I was soooo wasted. I'm hurtin bad right now. How about it Fred? (Insert Mike laughing)" His stories have no point and are as bland as they come. Why is it entertaining sports radio to listen to someone talk about getting drunk with out a POINT OR PREMISE. It's a sad attempt at being cool and funny. A few years ago, it was a sad attempt at getting free stuff by dropping names on air (Basta Pasta) and it has morphed into this even more pathetic garbage.

Yeah...North's drinking stories are brutal. There's nothing cool or interesting about an old man and his cronies staying out all night getting their load on.

If the show is entertaining to you hearing Pappy talk about drinking with Jen Jen and crew then why fly Pappy out to Detroit to do this. Pappy can stay here and drink in Chicago bars.

I remember last year during the World Series Pappy said he missed the end of the Sox game 3 extra inning game because he went to bed. I believe that game ended around 1am central time.

So let me get this straight. Pappy couldn't stay up for that yet he's drinking until 2am in Mid July in Detroit. Boy that makes sense.

Ok but you see my point. Last year Pappy said.

"I couldn't stay up for dat game. It was to late. I gotta get sleep for da show."

But for this meaningless day in July he's out on da town. Even Pappy felt guilty about it because he didn't want to admit to being out that late and had to be corrected when he lied about it.

I think I understand why Ike likes North so much.
it's the all-encompassing generalities. it makes perfect sense.

They are funny. On the weekend. When you don't have to be up at 5 AM to broadcast a radio show that you get paid 1.5 mildo for. Most of us learned this after college. Shit, all I do is yap on the phone all day and I can't function if I pull that shit during the week.

And "maybe he was just tired that night"?? WYC! It was only one of the biggest nights in Chicago sports. But he's got plenty of energy to stay up late if it's drinking and probably some ya ya time. Give me a break Pappy.... grow up.

Wow Ike. That defense of Pappy was an all time classic. Maybe he was tired on game 3 of the World Series? OFCOURSE HE WAS TIRED. He has a 6am radio show everyday. That's the whole point. He fought that sleepiness to drink with Jen Jen and stay up til 2am the other day. He's willing to do that and be sluggish for his radio show for selfish reasons. But he can't sit in his hotel room for game 3 of the most important series in White Sox history.

well i slept through all 4 games of the ws, but thats another topic...

does anyone wonder why there are no more funny people anymore? or no more legendary musicians? these sources of entertainment have been greatly softened up due to lack of drug use, or really lack of corporate backing for people who use. most of the best entertainers that have ever lived have been drug abusers, it goes with the job. why do you think baseball did so well when everyone was on roids? im not saying it was good for the game, but it was good for its revenue.

my point is its not like mike does this everynight, and even so, whatever he does he is always on time for his job. i want my radio hosts to go out and have fun. theres nothing worse then trying to listen to a disgruntled personality bitterly hosting a show.

and as for game 3 when he slept through it, im pretty sure he guessed there would be a game four no matter what happened that night

I am confident there's no lack of drug use in your world.

Ike your points about drugs helping the performance of musicians and performers doesn't apply to Pappy.

Taking steroids= more home runs

Rolling Stones tripping on acid= better lyrics

Pappy getting hammered until 2 A.M does not help him have a better show. It just helps a 55 year old man tell a story of how he got drunk with Jen Jen. How you can be on top of your game and have a good show with 4 hours sleep is something you can't explain. But Pappy doesn't have to answer to anyone. Mitch will not do a thing.

well at least you are realistic beardown. i was afraid i was going to be immediately thrown under the bus with the drug/entertainer theory, many people dont want to hear that alice in wonderland was written under the heavy influence of lsd.

i agree he cant be on top of his game after drinking all night, but i still think he should be allowed to have a late night here and there. i mean people want him to be more creative like the old north was, but this mike north is even more sober then he used to be and people are still cryin that is too big of a drunk...

He CAN have a late night here and there, they're called Friday and Saturday.

The guy's making more jack then the GNP of some countries, yet he can't take the show out of town without partying like a frat boy with 20-somethings, then bragging about it on the air.

Small midlife crisis Mikey?

He can drink every day if he wants. I would just think he would have more respect for his well paying job not to be tipping cock tails a couple of hours before his show starts. He could drink from noon until 7pm everyday and still get his rest. That way he would satisfy your request of having a wild on air host and still have energy to do a show.

im proud of mike and everything he has done in his life. he has done a lot more with his life then most of us, and he deserves to have fun at his job; he deserves to be paid well. you all believe he is making an ungodly amount of money but really its everyone else that works hard and gets paid peanuts. minimum wage should be 12 an hour and its only half that, its so sad. i myself make 30 an hour and im not rich by any means...

or maybe i sound like myself. every post i make it seems people want to label me as someone who is affiliated with the score because they dont want their own insecurities to eat them up. knowing that other people out there genuinely respect mike north and the gang makes some feel left out, unwanted. maybe its in all perfect logical sense too, who knows... its just my assumption based on replies i have been given.

Yeah Ike, the fact that you like and respect North makes me feel so inadequate. Damn you! Damn you!

How many dicks do you have to suck in an hour to make $30?
