ElmhurstSteve, why don't you start a blog? I'm serious. It takes about a minute to set it up on WordPress.

If your sports knowledge can be branded and marketed, it can be used to sell advertising. And not just bullshit like AdSense. Get some of those taverns you frequent to buy ad space. You can certainly do better than the Webio.

Go the social media route. Start following a bunch of sports fans on Twitter, Facebook. Post links to other sports blogs and post content that will generate links to you. Try to drive traffic via the value of your content, which is all that matters to people who read sports blogs, follow enthusiasts and athletes on Twitter. Give a shot. See what happens.
You can share content between your phone calls to WSCR/WMVP and blog posts. Throw your blog open to comments, and ban any yahoos who abuse the comments.

I admit there's a bit of "calling your bluff" in play here, but why not try it? Are you terribly busy? I bet Mac would even let you drop a URL on the air.

Steve can also move to Alaska and run for Governor.

OMG can you believe the Bears squeeked by the Pack and may still win the North??? What were the odds that Mason would miss on 2 FG attempts? The NFC North champion in 2008-Tallest midget award!!! But I still want the Bears to take it.

OMG, the best Beat Down of a "Celebrity" I've ever seen, I haven't
laughed this hard in a while.

I wonder if Stevie Boy wears a cap or shirt around stating he's
"Elmuhurst Steve", similar to what "Mr Cub" Ernie Banks has to do?

I'm going to Doc Ryan's in Elmhurst this week end, and I'm going
to try and pass myself off as Elmhust Steve to the bartender, and see if
I get any free drinks. My plan is I'll state the obvious in the sports world
that day. My opening line will be something like, "Wrigley is a beer garden"
or "The Yankees win becasue they have the highest payroll". If this does in
fact get me drinks as "Steve", my plan is act like, like Ruprect in Dirty Rotten
Scoudrels, thus smearing his reputation...

now,its 500! I just like to say that I take this honor quite seriously and will remember this thread for years to come. What is to be learned from all this? Words are a powerful tool,be careful how you use or abuse them. Elmhurst Steve,I thought you were a nice guy & ( you probably are in person),BUT to alienate guys on this board on a bet (as YOU said),that ain't right. But as BIGFAN says, this IS a Moshpit!

Hmm...not really peep related, but it came up during the search, and I figured it was kind of appropriate for this thread...

You don't get it...No, I did not post my innermost feelings here. I posted the stuff here in a ruse, to win a bet. I assume you refer to ESPN, because I was on the saloon this afternoon. I just prefer that show to B&B and called in there because I wanted to comment on the subject being discussed. Do you really believe that you have any power/leverage over whether or not a radio station decides to air my calls? You must be delusional. I think you will find that the stations and all the shows on them, don't give a damn that you got punked here.

Gotta call bs on this one Steve. You don't call B&B because you figure that Goff would not put you on the air.

And ... I predict... it will be awhile before your "brand" re-appears on the Mac Show.

I guess you were right about Mac's show. I might just as well just say so, before people start gossiping and speculating about it. I did call in to Mac's show today and was put on hold. Mac waited for a commercial and then got on the phone with me and told me he was upset about some of the things posted here. So for the forseeable future, I am not going to be allowed on that show. I guess he is waiting for an apology that he finds acceptable to be posted here first, but I may just switch back to ESPN instead, as I don't think I should have to issue any appology whatsoever. I really did not think that this board had any real connection to the show, so I assumed whatever was posted here would be irrelevant. I guess I was wrong...
