Sure it looked like rain tonight, but that is no excuse. A Thurs night game usually brings out even the most casual fan, so can we toss out the "Cub fans will come out no matter what happens?" Sure a nice Sat afternoon game in July will draw people that plan on coming to Chicago, but this game tonight would have been not old sold out, but every bar would have been packed by 5:00 PM. Instead I took a walk to 7-11 at 6:30 and only 1 table at Sluggers had people sitting at it, window seats at Red Ivy and plenty of outdoor tables at Vines.

I know the tickets are sold at Wrigley but over the last month 40% drops in revenue should be expected, which takes a big chunk out of the planned revenues of this team.

One thing this team never expected was to be out of it, in late August.

I never thought McFail wanted to win a divsion, he just wanted to be in the race to keep the fans coming in.

One of us is losing it. Is it Wednesday or Thursday?

Regardless, I was thinking the same thing watching the game. I want to think: good, this under performing team doesn't deserve a full crowd. On the other hand, that isn't going to help move some of these overpaid stiffs.

Just picked up my daughter at Dairy Queen on Southport and had a smooth drive on Clark right past the Shrine to Sheffield.

I went to the game last night. For the first time in quite a while, the atmosphere, both inside & outside the ballbark, was dead. Just like the Cubs. The announced crown was 36-something....but the ballpark was VERY empty.

Weds or Thurs, the point being DEAD, no traffic, and 36,000 reported in the park.

Usualy the park is filled and another 50,000+ in the bars.

With Kids back in School, lousy rainy weather & a lousy Cubs team full of unlikable players, a wierd senile Manager & a GM whom everyone is pissed at for ruining a good team, it is no surprise that attendance at Wrigley is down. I hope the place is empty soon like it was in the 1970's. Thank God that Crane Kenny is returning though...

If not for a few drunks in Cubs gear you wouldn't have known there had been games played yesterday or today. The combination of shitty weather, shitty visiting team, and a shitty road trip from the cubs would seem to be the culprit.

 50K?

I suppose you estimated the 1.75 million people at the Sox championship rally too.

It made it alot easier for Bradley to hear all the racist comments.

And how ironic was it that a day after Bradley's comment about hoping that every game lasts only 9 innings so he can go home and there he is finding himself in the position to tie the game with 2 outs in the 9th. Really makes you question his effort in that moment, huh?
