Yes, Bob. You are correct. I actually root for my team and am glad when they win. I actually try to enjoy the positive aspects of the season while remaining objective (I have stated several times that this team is not very good). I guess that makes me a "FANBOY", whatever the fuck that means.
I get it. You don't like Reinsdorf or Kenny. You don't like Hawk. You think that people that continue to root for their team even when they are not playing at an elite level are "fanboys". Chicago fans live in "hooterville" (because you are so much more sophisticated than the rest of us). You love to use smilies. You don't like your playoff invoice.
Nothing wrong with rooting for the team while acknowledging its flaws. And there's nothing wrong with rooting for a flawed team. What I think some people fail to realize is that "elite" baseball is not going to be played every year and it's nearly impossible to field one of those teams every year. The "crusty" old Sox fans thing goes back to when the team was REALLY bad, but this is no longer that era of the organization. They are truly attempting to make this a competitive team every season, though sometimes they will fail. And as far as I'm concerned, the whole "everything-and-everyone-is-against-the-Sox" thing should have died the moment they won the whole damn thing four years ago. Most people won't ever get to see their teams do it. And I'm not saying they should take the next 90 years off from trying, but there should be some recognition that it is f***ing hard to win the World Series, even if you've put together the best on-paper team in baseball.

I sure as hell am guilty as charged for being, of all things, negative about the White Sox.
As a cantankerous old fuck, I have watched season after season of directionless and clueless bullshit.
As a paying customer, I have every right to bitch and somehow desire a better product.
I don't begrudge anybody rooting for the team at any time....and I THINK WE ALL AGREE THAT WE WANT a really good team....not this pile of shit.....ROSE COLORED GLASSES DON'T WORK IN THIS TOWN....unless somebody named Michael laced up the Nikes in the Stadium and U.C.
Bob, this is where your life experience and knowledge of history as a Sox fan is coloring the present. These aren't the days of cheapass Charlie Comisky squeezing every drop he can to the detriment of the team. The Sox don't make perfect decisions, but they aren't always terrible decisions, either. They certainly aren't clueless. Like I always say, there is nothing wrong with being realistic, just don't confuse realism with pessimism. Everything isn't always awful.
