The boys are having a discussion about whether or not the Sox should start Jake Peavy this season. Meat says start him and Mac says put him in bubble wrap and let him out in spring training. I'm with Meat. Pitch him this season. Mac is worried about Peavy getting hurt but he could also get run over by Roy Oswalt's combine this off season. IF he's healthy he should pitch. Pitchers pitch, Mac. Pitchers pitch.

I'll actually side with Mac on this. I don't see any real harm in shutting him down for the year and having him focus on Spring Training. While there is harm is having him pitch in meaningless games and run the risk of re-injury.

Also feel the same about Soriano/Ramirez/anyone on either side of town with an injury they know they'll need looked at come the end of season.

Nobody wants him to pitch IF he's hurt but if they deem him healthy there is no reason for him not to pitch.

Considering the facts that the White Sox are playing out the string, plus how much $$$$ they've invested & inherited for Jake Peavy over the long haul, FORGET IT! I'd rather see more growing pains from Carlos "Where's the Strike Zone?" Torres and Dan Hudson than see Peavy blow out his arm in a meaningless start...Starting Peavy now is flat out crazy and not worth the big money he's going to earn next year and beyond.

Jake Peavy's first start in a White Sox uniform happens in Spring Training 2010 in Glendale, AZ and then sometime in April when he's fully healthy. SHUT HIM DOWN...NOW!

He can 'blow out his arm' in spring training just as easily as he could in September. Any player can get hurt at any time. I don't understand 'shutting a player down to protect him from injury'. IF he's healthy I want him on the mound. He's going to have to make a start eventually and the sooner that happens the better.
