Finally after 3 years of what WSCR has tried to pass as a Morning Radio Show, Mike North showed up in an arguement with Matt Abataola this morning at 6:30 AM.

This was not an Annie v Mike debate over the nutrious value of pop tarts, or something else important, but Matty STANDING UP for what he thinks is a good move for the Cubs in letting Itzsuris play SS.

North thinks it is stupid as they have tried all year to develop Cedeno at SS. North has basically counted Itzsuris out already as damaged goods and next year they will need Cedeno back again at SS and then blame Dusty for not developing Cedeno.

Personally I agree with Matt, as Itzsuris was a Gold Glove SS in 2004 and he is 26? How can you not give the guy the rest of the year to tryout at SS? We have seen Cedeno play SS and it was not great, plus the guy played 2B in the Minors?

Regardless of what anyone might think, Matt stood up for what he thought was right and North could not take it. You could tell in his voice he was getting pissed off (like a child would) and went to commercial. A first in the history of the MNMS, a SPORTS ARGUEMENT.

I know Cedeno has made only 4 errors in the past 50 games or so, and that's an improvement over earlier in the season, but I never have had much confidence in Cedeno at SS.

If Izturis is healthy, you're getting a gold glove SS, and we'll see if he hits well enough to remain in the lineup.

On another note, I'm not exactly sure what North thought the Cubs could get for Maddux besides a prospect....maybe, that's what he wanted, but I say take a chance on this kid - you got a gold glover, former all-star for a 40 year pitcher whose ERA is been in the 6.00 neighborhood since April..

Ofcourse Drinky is right. It's not even up for debate. Pappy get's hell bent on stupid arguements and even if he realizes he's wrong he'll stick with it. He's mad that they traded Maddux? Why? They can sign him again next year if they want? Plus he's 40 and sucks? It was a no brainer trade.

Pappy is used to dealing with a spineless Fred. So anybody who brings common sense to the show takes Pappy for a loop. I said before that Drinky isn't doing anything special but he's actually arguing with Pappy and exposing him for the dummy that he is. Witch I guess is alot in the end. Putting Drinky on the show got me to listen just for that reason.

Yeah, I tuned in for drinky, too. He greatly improves the show--but then again, so did Jesse when he took Fred's place. Can Fred really be so incompetent that he makes Jesse look good by comparison?

Drinky did a good job. He stood his ground. Seems to me that only he and Barry Rozner even try to argue with Pappy about anything sports related. It makes for a better show.

I am enjoying this quite a bit. They just got into it again (9:30). Oh god I hate Mike North. What an asshat. I don't get to listen to the show very often but today I had an opportunity. Very glad I did.

How stupid is Pappy. They trade for a shortstop who has won a gold glove one year and an All Star the next year and he wants Cedeno to stay there when you can move him to second. Holy shit Pappy is now arguing that 2nd is tougher then Short. My God....

Do you have a new found respect for Pappy's stupidity after sitting next to him?

During commerical breaks does Pappy acknoledge he's full of shit but he has to stick with arguments even after being proven wrong?

Why does he read Text messages saying "Jen is hot" & "Annie has a sexy voice"? How does that serve the show?

How dumb is "Pappy's rants" up close? Are you cracking up to your self after his short dumb responses?

I wish I had known Drinky was sitting in. I would have tuned in once I woke up. I didn't turn it on until about 9.

Rock- Dude...Pappy just rolls in and says whatever comes to mind & crap. I just pump out sound bites like a mad man. Jen bounces around for 4 hours all perky like and then Pappy takes us to the bar. Check out my new tat dude. See...it's Texas with a missle launcher on it. It's suppose to represent Texas launching bombs on every other state. I'm gonna put "Duck Y'all" on it later. Rock- I think we'll do real estate or rants dude. I don't know. Pappy makes it up as he goes. Sometimes he says a stupid phrase...pause...realizes he likes it. Annie- I'm just gonna argue elementary liberal points against his symplistic Right Wing points. Just read the Scores Drinky. Laugh at his jokes and don't argue. That's what Fred does and if we all do this the 4 hours will go quick. You can take your spine back when you leave. If we do this we all get a nice check at the weeks end.

WOW Anthony! That's strong. I'd be the first to admit that Pappy is a clown, but Rick F'n Teelander!? Teelander had the luxury of having guys around him who added personality to the show, like Buffone and Mulligan/Hood.

On the other hand, Fred and Annie add absolutely nothing to the show. When you suck like Pappy, you need someone else who can pick up the slack. I think Drinky did a good job of that.

mike was hilarious today. so was drinky. the morning show was classic. drinky is a good match for mike, it makes for great entertainment, and if anyone really listened to what the arguments were, they were not all serious. it was ENTERTAINMENT i quote mike, "its radio, thats all" and thats why he sticks up for his wrong arguments, thats why he yells, thats why he actually has a personality. its radio, you all listened to it. i actually enjoyed the 10-12 show too, the bears talk was good. and the bit about dusty

What exactly was "hilarious" about Mike today? I've heard his shows for years and I can't think of one hilarious or even "partially funny" thing he's ever said on the air. Contrast that with Bernstein, Mac, Jurko, etc who are actually funny. Mike is not funny or humorous. He laughs at his own jokes and his cronies laugh with him. That is all. It's like a laugh track telling you when there's a joke. I'm happy for you if you really enjoy the show and North this much but quit shoving it down everyone's throats, it's kind of sad.

NO. Pappy does not go the opposite way on arguments to be funny. It's not funny anyway. But Ike I think you have to come to the realization that Pappy is just a dumb man. Somebody shoots down his stupididy and he's backed into a corner. So he does a Pappy cackle and plays it off but he'll fight to the end on his stupid comment.

I agree with the post early in this thread. Pappy can't be with anybody anymore. He has reached an ego level and despite his lack of success can't let go of it. So Fred, Drinky, Annie it doesn't matter. He's the problem. I mean Fred and Annie are terrible too but he's the main reason the show sucks.

Ike a few things....

1) Do you realize that the Ike does not run South, but East and West? If you're on the Ike South then you are SERIOUSLY directionally challenged.

2) The only reason that Mike was saying "it's just radio" about his arguments was that he finally was paired with somebody who'd put up a fight with him, and had no other excuse for his stupid arguments. (DISCLAIMOR: I used to listen to the Monsters every day, loved Mike, and would go back to being a regular listener tomorrow if he'd stick to sports and have a real partner)

3) What is your true identity? I have it narrowed down to 2 inanimate objects... Northy's cigar punch or Be Be's vibrator.
