I know it was a topic of discussion last year especially when trying to figure out the reasons why they didn't make the playoffs. They never said it was the only reason they didn't though. The defense was really bad in Denver last year.

Boilermaker Rick, why don't you worry about Danny Hope and his clock management? Leave the Bears talk to the pros. Thanks.

You talking about Cutler? He only lost one.

But he does have to take better care of the ball. The plus side is he rarely gets sacked.

Saturday is reserved for complaining about Purdue.
Sunday and Monday are reserved for complaining about the Bears.

I'll be better by Tuesday.

Kyle Orton was the definition of consistent- consistently got a QB rating of 70-80ish.

If you would rather that over an inconsistent Cutler, Rick, you really are not near as smart as I thought.

I'd rather have Cutler over Orton but being better than Kyle Orton doesn't give him a pass.

Cutler could be one of the best QB's in the league. I see it. He makes amazing plays the likes of which few can make.

I just can't believe the one person on here that wasn't over the top in love with the trade seems to be the only guy that expects our pro bowl QB to play like a pro bowl QB.

In fairness though, he played like one on Sunday.

He also played like one in the 2nd half last week against the defending Super Bowl champions. Lets also keep in mind that the running game has been virtually non-existent, and there have been quite a few drops.

He may not be playing like a Pro Bowl QB but he has been absolutely fantastic in 4th Quarters.

No doubt. I'm just concerned that if things continue like this that there won't be an opportunity to make a comeback in the final minutes.

I'd be more concerned with the D. Yesterday was that old bears defense I have come to know over the last couple of years. No pass rush and could not stop 3rd and long.

Tillman is all about the strip now - damn technique, damn solid tackling - how many strips can you actually get per game? Enough - go for the solid fucking tackle for once.

This is true and all the more reason to hope that the Jay Cutler we've seen in the fourth quarter can help out the defense earlier in the game.

Line play on both sides of the ball has been inadequate, but far more so on the offensive side. Part of the problem with pass rush yesterday was that they were lacking a healthy Alex Brown; but even with him, they really don't get enough pressure to play the soft zones they consistently play.

Your QB is only as good as part of the whole. You had an all pro in Drew Brees and his team didn't even make the playoffs. Plus before we start making arguments based on statistical backup, let's keep it in perspective that we only have three games and it is way too small of a sample size. Hell, at the first 8 games of 2006, everyone wanted to don Grossman as the greatest QB of all of Bears history. And we all know what happened in the second haf of that year. I am happy to see Cutler bounce back from his worst game of his career. That is something encouraging to see because it could EAISLY of been the beginning of a long season if he let that one game affect his play for the rest of the year.

Few QBs have the combo of footwork and upper body strength to make that TD throw to Greg Olsen. That was awesome.

How about how Tillman twirls the receiver out of bounds with like 60 seconds on the clock and Seattle driving? That pissed me off.

Rick while I agree with you when you say we should want Cutler to consistently play at a PB level I also sense a little sour grapes because Orton isn't here.

This seems to be the standard response. I honestly believe Kyle Orton is in a better situation in Denver than he was here. From the start, I've wanted to see more from Cutler before I put my emotions into him being good enough to be a top 5 QB and I've been pretty consistent with that. He isn't that and quite honestly through three games he's not a top 10 QB. It's funny. You aren't the first person to bring up that I'm somehow biased because of Kyle Orton because I'm one of the few on here saying that our "pro bowl QB" isn't playing at a "pro bowl" level. If Cutler was throwing for 300 yards a game or if the Bears were scoring 30 points a game you may be right. The best NFL Sunday for me is a Bears win, a Saints win, and a Broncos win in that order. I don't root against Cutler. I am just hesitant to buy into the fact that Jay Cutler doesn't have more to prove. Wait and see. I'll give Cutler credit when he's earned it. He was very good in the Seattle game starting at the end of the second quarter.
Nas wrote:
Yes Cutler does take some chances that you may not want him to take but right now I can't really blame him for it. He really doesn't have a choice. The offense wouldn't have a chance and the team may not win without him taking some of these risks. That was the case last season and for some reason has been the case since he was in college. He has been by far the best player on some bad teams.

He has played amazing at times. The same players are there for the whole game. If he really is a pro bowl QB he should be able to do what he does in the fourth quarter earlier in the game.
Nas wrote:
Tom Brady has been the best QB in the NFL this decade and he didn't have a season with a better than 2 to 1 TD/INT ratio until they put some talent around him.

When Jay Cutler wins his first Super Bowl I'll never say a negative thing about him again even if he never throws a touchdown again. Until then, I won't base any discussion on Cutler around what Tom Brady has done.

This is the silliest thing I've heard yet. If we had the Pro-Bowler that is Kyle Orton, the Bears would be 0-3. If you like watching Denver's "high-powered" offense, be my guest.

Cutler put up the highest QB rating at Qwest Field to date. The average QB rating is 70% there.

On offense it's all about scoring. Brady,Farve , Marino,Elway its about putting pts on the board. Where do the Cutler lead Bears rank as points scored?Don't think they are that good.

I once heard that of John Elway, if he had played as well in the first three quarters as he did in the fourth quarter, there would be no need of the dramatic comebacks. Was John Elway a pro bowl QB?

That's because you don't want to admit to the world or yourself that the Bears are great and can be better than the Fudge. You poo poo Cutler but would like the stink off Aaron Rodgers schwety balls when they might be more similiar than you want to admit.
