It cost a $100 million dollars for that paper and vapor and hope bid?

I wonder about that, weren't those who put up that $100 million for the bid expecting to get their initial investment x10 back if Chicago got the games?

Some contracts for construction for the 2016 Games were already handed out, without any bidding or oversight. I'd guess that those who ponied up part of that $100 million got some of those contracts and now that Chicago isn't getting the games and those contracts are worthless, they'll want Daley to cover their initial stake somehow, some way.

Daley goofily throwing in the towel on Chicago going for 2020, saying that since the Olympics are in South America in 2016, the IOC will not want to site them in the same "hemisphere" twice in a row.
