So he tried to get the olyimpics and failed. He was noble in the attempt. There is a lot of cities to compete against. If he could get a dome over Soldier Field,I'm sure he would have a much easier time getting a Super Bowl. It too would rake in the cash & create a lot of jobs. It also could be retractable so the fans are not freezing to death in November and December. Much cheaper then Olympic money,I'm sure.
I know there are a myriad of problems in our city,but if were just worried about crime and nothing else,nothing would ever get built in any town. There will be shootings regardless if a dome is built or not. So I say,go for it,Mayor Daley!

This rebuilt Soldier Field is basically an arm pit...like the original....the reason we don't have a first class facility is pure power politics....Wirtz and Reinsdorf built the United Center...they sure as hell don't want a 1st class football stadium with a roof to take away big concerts and other indoor activities that go to the UC.......

If not for the Obamas, his group of speakers was proclaimed laughable.

I love this town, and have seen it go 1st class in so many areas.....but this insider game playing and freezing people with ideas out who "weren't sent" is laughable and to all of our detriment.

I think he's going to try to put a giant beret on the Sea...I mean, Willis Tower to make the city more "international." Or maybe he's going to try to have all of the streets painted red to make the city stand out more when viewed from space. Perhaps he'll have man-made islands put into Lake Michigan in the shape of a smiley face to make the city seem more friendly.

Are there any other wild speculations as to what Daley's next venture will be?

Daley isn't going to be doing any outrageous projects any time soon. He'll probably be in a funk for a while, glassy-eyed and unshaven, mindlessly pacing the halls of City Hall wearing nothing but house slippers and a ragged bath robe, sipping Sanka from a "World's Greatest Mayor" mug, humming the Olympic theme.
