In case you forgot, roughly two years later the White Sox won the World Series.

Not to mention the Red Sox, twice.

I don't know about you guys, but Game 7 hurt more than 6. I was yelling at the top of my lungs when Kerry Wood hit the home run to give us back the lead.

After that Game 6 collapse, I knew it was over. I was hoping for a win, but I knew they couldn't do it in Game 7. That's why game 6 hurt so much more for myself.

+1

I was pumped like SPmack when Wood hit the homer to tie it...but that series was over already.

Believe me, I get it. Just had not thought about it for awhile, and was hoping to keep it that way.

Only way it could have been is if it happened in the World Series, but
we'll never know the pain that could have been..... it's not easy being
a Cubs fan. I just hope the Bears can give me something to cheer
about once winter finally hits and I am trapped inside.

I disagree...even if It happened in the W.S. I would have gotten to see my team play a world series game...that it happened in the NLCS just makes it more cub.

BTW...THUMBS WAAAAAAY DOWN to Mike Greenberg who said last week "No NL team has ever come back from being down 2-0 in a 5 game series"

Didnt he live here at the time?
He may have even covered the 84 cubs.

yes...especially since I missed all of game six and was at Wrigley for game 7...and it was colder than a woman's shoulder. You did get the sense, even after Kerry's homer that something wasn't right. Maybe it was just me and my pessimistic personality...

Does that scoreboard say 'Paul Bako'?? Seriously, Dusty? You couldn't pinch hit?

I would think Game 7 hurt worse, but I think you are wrong spmack. elmhurst steve was at that game in Atlanta where Wood hit the go ahead HR

Exactly right. I actually watched game 6 at a bar in Wrigleyville with my buddy and after some stunned silence he started with the whole we still have one game left we can still win this rah rah crap. I knew that it was over though. There was no chance they were coming back in game 7. Friggin Cubs. Great way to start the morning remembering this......I think I need a drink.....

I dunno- I've most definitely thought about it, and I'd rather see the team never get to the WS if they're gonna get there and lose. I have NO problem saying that

FucK i wish i didn't click on this thread. :( Sad that like this and 9/11 are two of the major instances of my life that I can remember exactly where I was when it happened.

Ok lets not have that ridiculousness here.

It was a Sports-Tragedy...different than a REAL-Tragedy.

Moving on...

I never said it was the magnitude of either event were even remotely similar, that would be idiotic and I'm sorry if it came across that way.

My long term memory tends to be shitty, but I can remember exactly where I was Game 7..like the very seat in the bar I was at etc...maybe just a dumb comment by me

I was in college and it seemed like every person was wearing new Cub stuff for that time. It wasn't just when the game was going on but pretty much all playoffs long. It was crazy. It seemed like any person that had ever watched a Cubs game decided to jump in on the road to the World Series title.

Yeah, the bandwagon jumpers were out in full force that year. They are out every postseason, but it was especially bad in 2003.

That inning should have been OVER DAMMIT. I was at Oakley and Broadway at a sports bar. Great theatre until that inning. Had to leave or kill someone before bottom of the inning. Game/set/match. UGGHGHGHGHGHG
