The strange part is that I hear Mike talking about this and HIM thanking Paul Agassi? Mtch? Rod? NY?

Questions I have

1. Why is Mike thanking so many people? Is the Ego really that big now that he needs her to be re-signed just to prove his point that she is a good sidekick/cohost/out of place traffic reporter? and that his ability to judge what is funny/entertaining etc is correct?

2. If this was an "Option" why did he say it has been hashed out for 2 weeks? Usually an option has the terms of the deal stated well before hand?

3. Does anyone in the Management team actually listen to what she "Adds" to a conversation? The "Uh huh's and Yups" added to a sports conversation are only second to her 'Breast sucking' and other maternal stories that most of us just find fascinating.

Congrats on blowing the chance to make the Morning show thrive with someone that could really ADD something to the show with original ideas and thoughts that might actually entertain the listeners.

This is probably more than most people think as I am sure the rest of the people think there is nothing worth salvaging in the morning, but I am sure North can pull some stat/rating etc that tells me the Mike North show is 4th among guys who listen to ....Mike North...or some other self fabricated stat.

Just when you you thought you had me coming back and I could hear an improvement and I started listening more and more you drop this bomb and just set yourselves back another _____ years.

I know I am not smart enough to comprehend the intricate business of Radio, but I know what I hear and what I have listened to my entire life in this city as far as good and bad radio goes and I am 100% sure I know Bad when I hear it and Anne on the MNMS is the definition of bad.

she is so out of place in this show, i cant believe it i did'nt listen how lond was she resigned for?

When was this shit reported? While she is not the sole problem she is a huge impediment to success, and has been since day 1.

If they are looking for a different demographic with the morning show, I know how to fix the problem: lose Fred and Annie, put in Hood and Jen Jen (I know, but they want a woman in that position). Suddenly you have saved money, gotten younger and more "urban" while retaining your base.

This is the official death knell for this show - its bad enough that you have attached your station's success so firmly to North, but then to anchor his own show with Tr-Annie all but guarantees that North's show is done in the ratings.

Notice how North turns off Fred and Annes Mics during any interviews? even with Ryan Dempster? yeah,they add a ton Mikey.

I heard North talking about Anne/Fred getting signing bonus' yesterday, but where is it reported that Anne got a contract extension ???

If true, I just don't get it. She reads the news, and gets paid $100K plus to be the wife of Harvey Wells, not know anything about sports, argue her left wing talking points that she could probably actually memorize a bit better, and not be alllowed to talk during interviews ???

I guess her marriage to Wells has to be the answer here...I mean, all she does is really read the news, and be ignored during the sports arguements...

I'm at a loss about this....if true.

Hey, just take that hyphen out of the word 're-signed' and change the pronunciation slightly and we'd all have our wish come true.

Nothing personal against her, but the direction of that show and her role on it, are among the most ill-conceived ideas in the 15-year history of the Score.

Thus I made sure I hyphened it. Didn't want anyone excited for no reason.

Well this proves that radio execs have no idea what they're doing. It's bad enough to make this mistake the first time. It's plain stupid to make the same mistake again by renewing her contract.

Nobody at the Score can listen to her and think she's an asset to the station. This screams of radio people just helping out there friends. Mitch is probrally tight with Harvey and wants to throw him a bone by letting his wife talk on the radio.

They're stuck with Pappy for another year. They don't want to eat that contract but to renew Annie is laughable

here's how the negotiations went imho ---

harvey- hey tranny, um i mean annie, do you still want to work with north or do you want to go back to wgn ?

tranny - i'll stay with north. i only have to read news from the papers for 3 minutes and then argue with north for another 3 minutes. also, i want a bonus and a raise.

harvey - no problem. (picks up phone, dials mitch rosen) mitch, harvey wells here, tranny wants a new contract and a bonus. bump her up to $125000/yr and give her a $20000 bonus. while you're at it might as well re-sign that trained seal huebner too. no raise for suck-up, but get hime a case of any german beer and some sauerbraten as his bonus. at least huebner makes tranny look like she has a set. got it ?

mitch - yes mr wells, right away sir. i'll get it done right after my memo about instant messaging the score hosts out.

But Harry is a big shot at 9-FM, get her a fucking job talking up 'Glory Days' over their.

This is classic CBS radio, what a year. Flip the very sucsesfull and profitable Oldies 104 and switch it to the awful failure JACK-FM. Re-up Eddie and Jobo because you think they are young, hip and cool and fuck up the replacement of Howard Stern with Rover and DLR, neither of which could last the year. And then make ad's attacking satelite radio and naming staions 'FREE' their way of taking a shot at satelite radio, meanwhile they are the reason people are getting satelite radios.

congrats, annie! Dont think she deserves 100k+ a year for what she does but thats the contract she signed, and she fullfilled her part. she showed up everyday and put up with mike's bitchin. i have a feeling those were the exact terms of the contract...

glad to see the morning show will keep going for awhile longer. i think mike said his contract was up in 08, it will be interesting to see what happens to the morning show then.

I would be absolutely SHOCKED if this boob stays on the air for that long; I'm sure the pictures he has of upper management can't be that damaging to extend his contract further. He can only have them by the balls for so long.

Plus, by 2008, WSCR will have to have changed formats, with the only sports being the White Sox living out there contract.

really? its only a year and a half away. i really dont think the show is as bad as this board makes it out to be. i love mike as a host; he always says what i want someone to say on the radio. fred and annie are good too but if they left it wouldnt ruin my mornings. i mean i know there would be better co-hosts out there because fred most of the time just seems alseep and annie really does say some dumb things. not as dumb as what jen said today (wasnt 9/11 in 2001?) but she's hot so she gets a pass.

Wonder how much the contract extension is for in terms of annual salary and number of years.

I really couldn't care less, I know longer listen to the show unless 1000 and 890 are at a break and North and company are the only ones on.

But really, what else is the score going to do, morning drive seems to be a giant blackhole in Chicago for sports talk. There is no one on the bench at the Score who could take their place and the other option is hiring someone who is not a sports guy (or maybe they could bring in the Fab Sports Babe).

Nothing has changed, I listen to the Score from 10-12 and from 2-6. Otherwise, I have lost interest.

I avoid North like the plague so I may be beating a dead horse but I notice there is no cross talk with Muggy and Hanley (thank God!). Is this because North Pearl Harbored Muggy about one of his articles a couple weeks ago?

Each and everytime I start listening to North she chimes in and I can't stand it. Sometimes she even sounds like a guy, or at least a chick trying to sound like guy.

If you insist on having a blonde that doesn;t know sports on the show, how can you not make sure she is smoking hot?

Anyone else hear her refer to the divisions in baseball as "conferences" the other morning? Priceless.

The funny thing would be that, to answer all of the criticism of Annie not knowing shit about sports, North would say that she was hired for other reasons like her ability to argue with him on other non-sports topics, and for her news....I think I may have even heard North mention this before.

All of the complaining and no solutions? Perhaps it's because Mike has three vixens, Be-Be, Anne and Jen that everyone is jealous?
The SCORE had their solution to there troubled line up but they were unable to see the talents of Mike Greenberg, Jeff Dickerson and Matt Spiegel. Reminds you of Chicago Sport Teams that don't recognize talent and later see that person move on to be very successful. Instead they hang on to a Mike Greenberg wannabe Dan Bernstein and Terry Boers who is and has been lost wthout Dan McNeil.
