I'm pretty sure it's really only in reference to a severe sophomore slump for the both of them.

It's not knock-down, drag-out funny, but it isn't terrible.

Think he'll bring this term out the next time he talks to "the great" Ron Kittle. God knows, he hit mammoth HRs, but after his rookie year, he was all but worthless. A bad Rob Deer in a good year maybe.

But then again, Kittle is beloved as a real, old school, lunch pail, throwback kind of good guy :?

Maybe, I think I'm just irritable today. Jim Miller has been great at least. Bringing sanity to Bears analysis

Too bad Jim Miller doesn't have a radio show in Chicago.

Mac loves the adolescent name calling.

God, I hate listening to Mac the week after a Bears loss. A close loss on the road against a very good team becomes armageddon. And now we've got five more days of this to deal with.

Yeah, I know I should just PTFB, but I usually have the Score on at work by default, so I'll keep listening and bitching.

I wasn't saying that. Mac says he thinks Soto is gay.

Ah. My apologies. Why does Mac think this of Soto? I thought he was referring to a sophomore slump for both Soto and Forte, as what they had in common.

The eyebrows.

Maybe Mac assumes that any man who makes little Mackey want to stand up and see what's goin' on out there is a homosexual.

Yes - the eyebrows are usuallythe reason. Mac believes they are a little too "manicured" looking.

Right? Because any man concerned with their appearance has to be a burrito right?
Wait... Mac dresses nice and was worried about losing weight for his appearance. Hmmm.

He used to comment about it all the time. Back when the Cubs and Soto mattered, that is. :?

I dont think he ever meant to suggest he was Moint. I think he was implying Metrosexual at the most.

If you guys didn't scare Mac away from this place by ripping on Hotpants, er, I mean Meatpants all the time, he could clear this up for us. :D

If that's the case, I'm all but done with this show. In this past week, we hear Speigs being offensive to women (with his 'after 4 kids, do you even feel it anymore?' remark) to even dignifying that caller who asked about Kerry Sayers asking a hockey player to have sex with her (which, say what you will about Dan and Terry, but they would of hung up and then RIPPED that caller for a question like that) to the Soto references (and making the point clear, he's saying Forte did drugs, but he also had to say he's not too sure....) this show is now a complete fiasco.

It's trash radio; trying to be a sports themed frat house. This is getting to the point that one day, in the not too distant future; Speigs or Mac will cross the line. Yes, WSCR is more loose and (thank God) more tolerant than ESPN; but CBS radio might not want the headaches that Mac and Spiegs will bring them. I do give credit to Mac, as he does call a foul when Spiegs crosses the line; but its HIS name on the show, not Matt's.

Spiegs with his "he he" like David Letterman, to bragging about pub crawling around Normal IL like a college kid, to his focus on his band more than his job, to coming up with even MORE parody songs, proved WHY he was on Sporting News Radio versus being on one of the big 2 in Chicago:

He's an amateur radio personality who never grew up. At least Abbattacola knows a thing or two about all the teams in this town. Speigs would be hard pressed to name the starting rotation of the White Sox on Opening Day this season or who started at 3rd base. He sure as hell doesn't know much about the Bulls, and probably can't name 8 Blackhawk players.

But he certainly can talk about drum sets. And what would work good for a parody song. And the food at bars is pretty good. That, THAT he's got covered. Knowing sports beyond his own favorite teams? Not so much.

As far as Mac? He's now more about bragging than broadcasting. Who the hell cares what kind of monitor they have in studio? Who cares that SHOCK OF SHOCKS, they pushed to get schedules in the booth. Good for you, Mac that you feel confident enough in your status to slam LoHo, Hampton, and Mike Murphy; that you get better ratings than them. But, shock of shocks; Silvy and Waddle are now doing BETTER in your so-called "zone." Mac, you say you're at your best during football season. No, you can talk more about gambling and THINK you're doing better radio during football season.

Down the dial, Silvy and Waddle got JAKE CUTLER coming on every week; while Danny Mac and Speigs have Jim Miller. I'm sorry, who is more interesting to the fans? Who gives a crap about one of the guys in the middle of the 18 or so Quarterbacks the Bears have had since Jim McMahon? (Everyone should really stop calling this the Danny Mac show. It's the Mac and Speigs show, period. Speigs more often than not is doing the major amount of talking out his ass about things NOT related to sports.) But go ahead, brag about how you know more. You waste time EVERY DAY on "Who do you love?" which is set up to pretty much NOT to get anyone to run 3 weeks in a row; much less any amount of time to be INTERESTING come the end of the season.

This show, week after week, is more and more of a train wreck. And you know its really bad when the on-air talent keeps telling you to tune in elsewhere.

Because the numbers are showing that they are.

Ben Stein knows more about the English language than Ryan Seacrest. Who is more entertaining? And who is more current? Sure, Miller might know more about things than Cutler; but he's boring, compared to the CURRENT STAR OF THE TEAM.

That's always been the way. The best players don't make the best commentators.

At this point, its about getting listeners and keeping them there. Waddle and Silvy ARE DOING THAT; have been doing that, and keep on doing that.

Mac on the other hand is encouraging you to listen to them instead of listening to him talk about hockey to a guy who knows almost nothing about hockey.

Thing of it is that Dan could have a good show. It just comes across that since he's now got the gig; all he has to do is show up. I know that isn't the case, I know radio personalities put in a lot of time off the air to make the show good (and Dan was on CONSTANTLY on the other shows prior to the launch of his show) but its not working now.

The show comes off half-assed and for all the tout of what to expect come football season; the only main difference I see is "Who do you love?" which isn't working either. Hard to get excited about a bit that is set up for 99% of the participants to fail every week.
