Listed as doubtful and Lovie has said he will not play.

Looks like the DT lineup could be Adams at Nose and Marcus Harrison at 3T with an appearance by Matt Toenaia backing up Adams and Izzy backing up Harrison.

> Gaines Adams will be active, which probably means the Pool Jumper will not be active again this week.

Why the hell don't the Bears just cut Tommie Harris & his $10 Million per year salary? Contracts are not guaranteed in the NFL so why continue to pay this guy?

Agree, and I do think Tommie Harris and his gigantic salary will be looking for a new home next year. He and Lovie DO NOT have a good relationship.

Can Richard Seymour play 3T? Kinda old and pricey though.

speaking of that I think Casey Hampton may be available after this year. He'll be 33 though.

The fact that Lovie & Tommie do not like each other one bit makes the fact that Harris is still on the Bears even more curious. Who & why would they continue with him on the Bears?
Is Jerry not willing to admit it was a mistake to draft Harris & to give him a ridiculous contract?

I don't think Hampton fits the scheme as the 3T - he's more of a space eating nose tackle. You need more of a quick, penetrating guy to effectively play the 3T.

Nice explanation from wikipedia:

His job is not to block or get tied up in a block, but rather to be athletic and get himself into the offensive backfield and disrupt their plans. Because of this a 3-technique tackle is a lighter, more athletic guy than a nose tackle.

Am I the only one holding out hope that Harris can return anywhere near close to form? I guess I am. I am not ready to cut ties with him yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears are.

You and Angelo, that's about it. I think we all "hope", but no one "expects".

His knee is never going to get better, it will only get worse. It is bone on bone. He will need a new knee before his 35th birthday.

what about the new high tech procedures that some other players have had done on their knees? I know that they were mostly in baseball - I think Magglio had it done - is football just too collision oriented for this to ever stick?

I guess I just don't want to admit that my favorite Bear is done. Damn.

Magglio had some crazy-ass Austrian shock-wave therapy done to his knee. His issue was very different than Tommie's - Maggs had an issue with the blood stopping the circulation process in the knee and therefore his normal knee surgery would not heal. Tommie has a degenrative knee condition.

espn.com wrote:
Ordonez, after the 2004 season with the Chicago White Sox, went to Austria, Vienna to have shock wave therapy performed by Dr. Wolfgang Schaden.

"It was not an easy decision," Ordonez says. "I visited with more than 10 doctors in the United States and none of them could give me a concrete answer about my knee. So I had to make a decision quickly because I was going to be a free agent and I didn't have a job."

The shock waves caused microfractures, which allowed blood to circulate to the injured area of Ordonez's knee. Ordonez's once renowned opposite field power now finally has been restored.

Izzy's banged up too - I wonder if they will just slide in Harrison?

Oh Lord.

EDIT - according to sportsline Izzy was able to practice today.

Per Biggs' tweets today, it looks like they are going to slide Harrison over.

If anything, this will proably make us stouter vs. the run (two bigger bodies up there), but will reduce the pass rush. I assume Izzy will handle all of the obvious passing downs at the 3T.

What are they doing with the guy that can jump out of pools?

Harrison might work. Anybody with 2 working knees might be better at this point.

I appreciate all Tommie has done during his tenure with the Beloved, but fucking A get rid of him.

He can't practice and he doesn't have the quickness he used to before that nasty injury (hamstring tearing off the pelvis).

The Bears are notorious for hanging onto players who are past their prime and/or hurt; see: Mike Brown.

They need to get Tommie's replacement into the mix soon. Is Jauron Gilbert that guy?

He's not that replacement, but he's on that replacement.

Bears' GM Jerry Angelo was a guest on "Mully & Hanley in the Morning" earlier this week on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com, and he mentioned something about Tommie "being healthy"...That was Thursday morning, and while you can hear the interview in its entirety on WSCR's Web site right now, there's something very fishy about how healthy #91 really is and ever will again...

Tommie should be released asap. He is horrible, and damaged goods. He will never live up to that contract. Loved how Jerry tried to say he was healthy, and then he is inactive. Time to cut ties.

Tommie Harris says Bears' injury report "wasn't true"

Posted by Michael David Smith on October 26, 2009 9:59 AM ET
Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris missed Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals with what the team says was a knee injury. But according to Harris, what the team says about his knee isn't true.

After the game, the Chicago Sun-Times reports, reporters approached Harris to ask him how his knee was feeling, and Harris responded by saying, "It wasn't true."

When asked directly whether a knee injury caused him to miss the game, Harris responded, "No. You talk to them. If you came here earlier, you saw, I worked out before the game."

Harris, who missed all three practices last week, made the trip to Cincinnati and reportedly worked out on the field about two hours before kickoff, but NFL Network reported about four hours before kickoff that Harris would sit out. So the Bears apparently decided to sit Harris before letting him test the knee out on the field.

The NFL injury report listed Harris as doubtful with a knee injury, and the Bears' official web site says Harris sat out with a knee injury. But Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo said in a radio interview on Thursday that the Bears were concerned about Harris's performance, not his health.

"Tommie is healthy," Angelo said. "That is not an issue."

So what's going on with Harris? We still don't know. But we do know that the player and the team are not on the same page.
