An unnamed source told Boston sports radio station WEEI that the Celtics offered Rondo a five-year, $45 million extension (an average of $9 million per year), but Rondo is seeking a five-year deal worth between $55 million and $60 million (an average of $11 million to $12 million per year).

What say ye?

Of course if he feels he can get it and that extra few million is that important, go for it. I'm just wondering how much of his ability is due to playing on the Celtics. Not saying he's a buster, but for that kind of money you should be a clear difference maker and I'm wondering if that's what he'd be playing on the Kings or the Bobcats

I think he'd be just as good on another team. But either way he'll be playing with the Celtics til he gets resigned...someone will pay that.

most here know how i feel about him. He's one of the best pg's in the league and still gettin better. No way he should accept kirk money. He showed what a difference makes he could be last year in the playoffs. They are stupid to not lock him in for ben gordon money

He's a good point guard, but only an average scorer. Of course, playing with guys like Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett are going to make you look better than you are.

Boston has not seemed to be infatuated with him as his name has come up in trade rumors and now they are having some contractual differences.

jason kidd was an average scorer. Doc gave rondo the keys last postseason and we saw what happened

He had a great post-season, particularly against the Bulls, but, given that nobody was guarding him, no Garnett, and Rondo being a talented player to begin with, I wasn't shocked that he played well. I was a bit suprised at how good he did do though.

There is something here that we don't know.

Locking up Rondo would seem like a no brainer but the people who are closest to him don't seem to agree.

There are plenty of NBA players who flash brilliance but fizzle out.

Thats kinda my point. No Garnett. Everyone seems to be of the mindset that KG, Pierce, and Allen are the only reasons he plays so well. Everytime one or more of them miss time he seems to take over the game and play pretty dominantly

He signed today at 5 years/$55 million. I agree with Nas, his agent should be fired. Good for the Celtics.

Now this is interesting in context of this debate: Rudy Gay turned down a 5/50 offer from the Grizz, apparently he wants 5/65

I would assume he just wants out of Memphis straight up. Because I think that's a very fair offer from the Grizz and i'd be pretty surprised to see another team offer that much more. I'd take Rondo over Gay in a heartbeat. I think this comes back to bite Gay. It will be interesting to see if he gets dealt before the deadline, I'd say the chances are pretty high they try and get something rather than just let him walk
