 no offense but do you say attention to the nba? Teams like memphis, the kings, bobcats, etc? The bulls are winning at half against clearly one of the best teams. I saw alot of positives in the first half. Nas i agree but you saw the block he had. He clearly has the athletic ability, you know the experience comes later. Also remember parker was able to do similar things against paul. He's very good. Overall i like what rose has done so far

bad idea to pass up an open kirk 3 for a miller 3. This is gonna tighten up in the 4th and i wanna see how vinny does. Deng has his mobility back and looks healthy. All mvp key players look good. So far so good for bulls fans

Tyrus still looks tentative going to the hoop, hes head faking and trying layups...I wish he would just go strong like Amare...BTW What is the difference between Pargo and Ben Gordon?

gordon is a shitload better. Other than that they play similarly. I really like how deng, kirk and tyrus have played. Bulls are playing great now. I love the effort on d and the unselfishness on offense. Spur aren't goin to their big three enough

Impressive victory tonight regardless of one's expectations of the season. I'm a bit tempered with my enthusiasm considering the Spurs were on a back to back, but a win is a win. Enjoyed watching Noah work the glass tonight and I like Rose, Hinrich and Salmons on the floor at the same time.

Haha, yep. Pargo looked bad tonight, IMO. That could be an issue going forward. The rest of the team all looked good, IMO. They said Rose isn't fully healthy, but he still performed solidly, IMO (13 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds). If Tyrus can keep hitting that wide open midrange, he can force defenders to guard him, and watch out; not that I think it's very likely. Noah got exactly a double double (10 and 10), and was passing the ball extremely well, though he did have a recurrence of the butter-fingers a bit. Deng looked good for the most part: just hit that jumper, baby. They got a lot out of Hinrich on an off night for Salmons. Collins was dead-on about the Bulls versatility; Vinny can play a bunch of players in a bunch of positions, and really give a lot of different looks.

I don't suddenly think this team is better than the 44 wins I predicted, but I do feel better about the prediction, if only because it looks like they won't be a total doormat, which I thought was a possibility. This ought to be a very entertaining team to watch; hopefully they are a little more consistent than they were last year.

agreed. I wish we had a coach that could get through to tyrus but with vinny if he just doesn't fuck up a close game i'll take it. I loved our effort on d and the glass. Deng impressed me alot. Tomorrow against boston will be an even greater test. I cant wait. I love this game.

i agree for the most part matt. Officially i had them winning around 47 and feel good about that. If deng can stay healthy this is a 50 team possibly. If only tyrus can play a little nope disciplined it could be dangerous. I loved what kirk noah and deng did. Tyrus put us in the driver's seat coming into the 2nd half. I hope and wonder if he can ever become that guy. Gibson looked good. I'm not as concerned with pargo as you only because really your 8-9th man really shouldn't affect your season like that, although if he can be the guy he was with the hornets 2 years ago that'd be a huge bonus to our depth.

Is there a coach that can get through to him? I can't really fault Vinny on this one. Either he needs a change of scenery to wake up or he'll just never get it. I don't envision him having a Noah like epiphany anytime soon. Paxson gambled and crapped out with this pick, though if we have Aldrige we're never in a position to draft Rose.

aldridge cant rebound, play inside, or play d. And now he's making 15 million a year. Keep him. Yep there are coaches that can get through to tyrus. He vinny hadn't shown himself to be completely overwhelmed and overmatched besides him i wouldn't put that on him. Tyrus is also to blame either way. Still he's gifted as hell and we might not win this game without him. I'm not ready to let go yet. Let's see how the season goes

Agreed. This team's ceiling is pretty high; they are capable of being a pretty good team if things bounce their way.

He's so frustrating. If he just would let the game come to him, he could really be something. You see the flashes, but he seems remarkably resistant to discipline. He's as much a key as Deng. If he were to make a Noah-like improvement, the Bulls would have a very formidable core.

I'm one of the grieved advocates of drafting Thomas. I wanted the Bulls to get him, because I thought his potential was so high that the Bulls should take the risk of drafting him. I had all but lost hope, but I think there's still a glimmer now. His blocking ability is absolutely elite, and if he can play better overall defense, and hit the jumper like he did tonight, he can be a really unique weapon.

Quote:
Gibson looked good.

Ironically, the one thing I thought we had with him -hitting the mid-range jumper- didn't happen. Yet, he made a distinctively positive impact on the game. He did a lot of little things, and that draft pick is looking pretty good now. If he can continue to play like he did tonight, and add in the mid-range shot, he'll be a real positive off the bench, and make the team very versatile.

Here's the problem: if Rose, Hinrich or Salmons gets injured -which is all but sure to happen- he suddenly has a significant role on the team. In this role, you can hide him when he's bad, and when he's good he can be a benefit to the team. If he gets forced into a bigger role, he'll fucking kill us when he's not having a great game.

He's just a huge dropoff from Rose/Hinrich/Salmons.

I was just thinking about the final preseason games, and how Vinnie started Taj. People were wondering if it was about sending a message, when you think about it, it was just the move to make: Thomas is in the final year of his contract, so either he gets it, or he doesn't. If he gets it, seeing Taj being viewed as a viable alternative lights a fire under him, and causes him to play team-ball. If he doesn't get it, you try to trade him or let him walk after the season, in which case it's good for Taj to have more experience, as he's the only viable alternative going forward (Johnson's more of a 3, IMO). It's all a matter of him understanding that the only way he's a valuable asset is if he recognizes his role, and maximizes his strengths, the stats he prefers be damned.

The coach almost doesn't matter now. The situation is such that he'll either get paid big, or be an NBA afterthought. If he has any sense whatsoever, that will be inescapably obvious, even without anyone to explain it to him.

agree with most of that. I still think we fucked up not drafting blair. The fact that we coulda had him and gibson makes me more infuriated. Given our coaching and management though i'm not suprised and for tonight will simply be happy with how our rookie did. His jumper wasn't falling the couple times he shot it but he has a good form and follows through so that indicates warranted hope for hope in that area. I agree pargo playing 30 minutes could be disasterous if it's for an extended stretch. I think we are versatile to overcome it though, and really he's not worse than your average 4th guard imo

again i'd agree with the obvious variable that we need another star and it could be easily lined up for bosh to come here via trade or free agency and him and noah would compliment eachother perfectly. I'd ran unless tyrus has a star breakout year or bosh resigns with toronto he's gone. I still love watching good tyrus and no matter what the nba fan in me will continue to root for him. I might be one of the few bulls fans who is glad we didn't draft aldridge. Not only did it in directly lead to rose, but aldridge has pretty much hit his ceiling, tyrus is still barely scratching the surface

Noah

LeBron
anyone who can play basketball
Rose

Come on, Cavs, keep losing.

B&B are going to have to deal with a lot of newly minted Taj Gibson fans today. I was already on the wagon for that, let me state. What a glass cleaner, he was in the picture for nearly every rebound.

Tyrus still makes me mad, first half sitting on the wing for four straight possesions, clapping his hands for the ball, chased the rebound 1 out of 4. He CAN be so good defensively if he'll just play smart. Maybe he'll get that far this season. Still don't like him taking jumpers, the Bulls have plenty of guys that can do that. I didn't see 'em beating the Spurs, but then really, the Spurs beat themselves too. Couldn't hit open jumpers, no flow in the offense, bad defense.

I was shocked by last night's performance and extremely happy. Joakim Noah gets the game ball for me. You can see a ton of improvement in his game and hitting the weights this summer instead of the ganja has definitely helped. He was a beast of the offensive glass, and his screens he set were much better than anything I saw out of him last year. And he even knocked down a jumper  .

Tyrus looked like shit in the first half, and I was ready to jump on the i hate Tyrus bandwagon for the year after only two quarters. But something just clicked and he played a great 2nd half. In fact, I would say he was the entire reason the Bulls opened up that lead in the 2nd half. Luol Deng played a solid game and looks a little bigger this year as well. Salmons had a bad night but it was okay because of everyone else who stepped up.

Taj also showed some good flashes after a nervous first few minutes on the floor. My only complaint was about some of Vinny's substitutions. He pulled Noah in the first and third quarters after only 5-6 minutes. Both times Noah was dominating the glass and stepping up defensively. I thought he could have kept Joakim out there for a few extra minutes each time.

they didnt do anything they havent done at the end of last year, and all throughout the preseason. why were you shocked? why was everyone shocked? i told you guys the bull would punk san antonio... my buddy i was watchin the game with was yelling at me how the bulls will lose last night, and i just sat there and said "bite your tongue motherfucker." the look on his face at about the 2:30 mark in the 4th quarter was just awesome.

Yeah I agree on the Vinny substitutions. Taking out Rose early was obvious, but I didnt like how he handled some of the others subs, most noticeably Noah, like you pointed out. I agree Tyrus was the reason that lead went from 2 to 12 in the 3rd.

I'm sorry but I won't take the Bulls seriously until they fire Vinny Del Negro.

I think they will win 50 games this year in spite of having a clueless coach.

I'll know management believes in this team the day they bring in a real coach.

i recorded the game, we were flipping back and forth from the philly game... so i missed at least half the bulls. from what i saw though, derrik rose eerily reminded me of a certain guard that plays for LA........

I'm sorry but I won't take the Bulls seriously until they fire Vinny Del Negro.

I think they will win 50 games this year in spite of having a clueless coach.

I'll know management believes in this team the day they bring in a real coach.

I agree, but we are basically stuck with him for at least this year and the next probably. One lucky thing for us is sometimes either a coach turns it around and improves, or a team wins the title despite its coach. I'm still not sure what category Doc falls under

i dont know what to think of him. you cant imagine a 2nd year coach to be any good, but the bulls clearly have bought into him, and the entire team has a swagger to them as if they are supposed to go deep into the playoffs. the celtic game is going to be a blast- the bulls are going to bring their A game, no doubt.
