I expect this to not go so well.

1. Milton Bradley. Needs to be addressed Monday morning at 8 AM. Every option needs to be on the table, defined and decided upon. I got this feeling from his comments about things that happened before he got there, that can be fixed or should not be held against people. Anyone that thought Sammy could not come back, should understand this is 10 times worse! This team can't be stuck with this human log jam.

2. Ricketts said he "Hoped it would not personal" if people get angry. This is going to be a total mess! You want to stand up with your siblings and show off your new toy, then dont think someone is going to rip you a new asshole if this team makes no baseball improvements and your sister gets the ladies bathroom painted pink! All the advisors and Yes men you have working for you, aren't going to save you.

3. Yes, I did expect to see more of a defined plan. If I have had ever worked on buying a business for 3 years, I would have a plan from Day 1. Maybe the timing would not allow for me to implemant that plan and I would need to adjust it, but I would also say that.

4. "The front office is understaffed" is somthing I would like more info about? Scouts? Tickets reps? VPs? baseball people? This was a glaring ommission by all the reporters.

You Cub fans have been basking in the glow of back to back division titles and the (horrendous) signings of Soriano, Bradley, Dempster, and Zambrano, but the new owner only gets a 1 year grace period to fix things?

I guess he'd better pull a rabbit out of his Cubs hat.

I realize this really only affects people in the neighborhood, but what are people's thoughts on how Ricketts handles all the issues that the Trib company had around night games, the apartments across the street from the park and the people pooping and peeing in people's yards? Ricketts mentioned the triangle development (parking lot and HoF) in the B&B interview, so I assume that is back on the table. I assume he goes after those apartment owners across the street for more money, right? Finally, I cant see how he doesnt go for 90-95% night games.

Unlike the Trib, Ricketts doesnt have shareholders, which I assumed cause the Trib to lose leverage when it came to dealing with the city. In other words, the city never seriously could believe the Trib if they ever said "Im going to move the Cubs out of Wrigley". Ricketts should be able to gain that leverage.

Overall, though...I liked the tone of his message. I am worried that they are looking LONG-LONG term...generational....and all I really fucking care about right now is NEXT YEAR! Hendry has positioned this team, talent & financial, in a very difficult / poor position.

Tom is very sharp and smooth. He's confident. He's a great public speaker. You can't say that about all pro team owners. What does this mean for him being a good owner and the Cubs winning? Nothing.

I hear him say stuff like the bottom line is not all that matters and I wonder. I look at that sister and I know she wants to make some money. So does Tom. So do the other brothers. I don't think they want to just break even every year like Tom was hinting at. I don't think all the profits will be reinvested like he said either. That sister is gonna be the main problem. You guys watch.

I think it will be a year before we see any big changes with the team and such.

Changing GMs right now would be stupid with the free agency/trading period starting very soon. And based on his body of work I think hendry deserves another year.
