What did everyone think?

I liked it more than I thought it would. I'll definitely give it another episode or two to see if i get hooked for the season.

They should let you own a network. Or six.

Wasn't my top pick for sure. My 'better half' was caught up in the hype and wanted to watch it.

As a huge fan of the original, this was a pretty weak effort.

They gave away WAY WAY too much during that secret meeting at the end. So much for building the drama. Obviously, the network was afraid of losing viewers so they shot their load all over the last 15 minutes of the pilot.

There's a lot of people I like in this, but I knew this show was headed for trouble a few months ago when the story got out that the network demanded a script rewrite very late in production. That can't be a good sign.

Between this and flop Fast Forward, ABC is proving themselves to be quite the one hit wonder when it comes to the sci fi genre. Considering that both of these shows had little inside jokes/homages to Lost it doesn't seem like ABC is too ashamed of that fact.

I'll keep watching because I was such a huge fan, but this looks like a flop in the making.

There were some that didn't think a "reboot" of a classic 1983 NBC mini-series and a short-lived series in '84-'85 was really necessary...

i didn't get to see this last night but just in general, the biggest problem i have with remakes is that studios are always afraid to keep what made the original so pure in the first place by hammering the point over your head ad nauseum. remakes are always dumbed down versions of the originals, besides for the most part being just plain awful.

i'm speaking i guess more toward foreign film remakes like "vanilla sky" and "insomnia"; but it doesn't surprise me at all, shakes, that they're gonna give everything away that made "V" so subtle to begin with.

I tuned in to see what all the hype was about. You already know what is going to
happen but I wanted to see how it was all presented. I have to agree with Shakes
that they really tried to pack 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag. The show moved really
fast and they gave up the fact that the aliens are up to something really quickly.
I will probably see how the 2nd episode goes and decide from there whether to
continue watching or not.

Yep, blew their load early but I like the casting outside of the party of 5 guy. Two actors from FIREFLY, including one of the hottest chicks on TV of the 2000's - Inara Serra

Maybe I was influenced by the fact that I never saw/was too young for the original. Didn't think it was great and I agree that the twist of the V's being exposed happening 40 minutes into episode one was quick. I think a lot of people need to see a really solid episode next week to keep their interest

The girl who plays Supergirl on Smallville (hot blond teen alien) is hotter.

I have to disagree on Scott Wolf, I like him ever since his work on Go.

It was better than I thought it would be (I had really low expectations) and at least something to watch on the worst night on television.

that blond chick was hot, I never watched Smallville so I had never seen her before. Inara (Morena Baccarin, as Anna) looks weird with short hair, but the Firefly days were awesome and I haven't seen her since. Elizabeth Mitchell has possibly the best natural rack on TV these days...

I have no problem with Scott Wolf the actor, I just think they should have had cast someone older in that role. they could have used him as Elizabeth Mitchell's son or something....he's kinda like Chachi, he doesn't age, he still looks the same as he did in the Party of 5 days so i can't take him seriously as an adult serious character....also the fiance chick Valerie is smoking...was veery hot in 24 and the other abc cancelled show with scott wolf, The Nine.

They gave away so much in the pilot I'm surprised they didn't end the show with all the characters jumping into hot air balloons (old V reference).

One thing I liked about this version was the idea that the lizards were already on Earth for 20 years embedding themselves into the human population. But, of course they completely ruined that reveal by giving it away 45 minutes into the pilot. They could've milked that out with the cop and the black guy A LOT longer than one episode.

The epiotomy of how rushed the pilot was, was when the blond main character from Lost went to downtown NYC to find her son and managed to do so in 12 seconds.

Somebody tell these idiots in the writing department that the leader of the VISITORS (and they are the Visitors, not the Vs) is named Diana, not Anna!

I swear to god I'm just gonna go grab my old VHS tapes my parents have stored in some box and just watch the original series on Tuesdays.

no payoff that is epiphanied by jeff goldblum can ever be considered bad. i.e. a shaking glass of water, and the outdoors being used as an outhouse.

and i'm coining the word epiphanied.

Watched it tonight (dvr) I too had low expectations. While I agree the show popped their cherry a little too soon. I'm willing to give it another week or two to bring on some new twist to the plot besides all of us playing the part of Slim Jims.

I found it funny how the writers took pot shots at the current administration. I literally lol'ed at the universal healthcare remark.

Definitely felt rushed - and could they not find an actor to play the FBI chick's son?? Man he is terrible and his fat friend isn't any better. I will give it another week but this is on my short list of not worth my time TV shows.

PS - One thing TV has shown me over the past decade is every female FBI agent is HOT. I can't believe ugly people haven't done a class action lawsuit yet.

rushed? You think it was rushed? Here's what happened in about 5 minutes of show time, quoted loosely.

2 agents pull up to mystery meeting....

female agent: "I think we have a leak"
male agent: "hmmm"

in meeting...

leader: "they've been here 20 years and are bad"
female agent: "are you sure"
priest: "I have photos!"

aliens attack....

male agent: "I'm the leak" (wouldn't want to play that out a little  )

fight between agents.... male agent gets hit in head...

male agent: "I'm a lizard!"

I was a huge fan of the original V. In my memory, it holds EPIC status.

That said, I thought the new one was much better than I anticipated. I guess I looked at it in this way - they feel it's a given that everybody knows they are lizards, come for people, etc. I was actually dreading that they were going to spend weeks playing that out. That was the big reveal of the original but you can't play to that now because everybody knows.

The original, once they got past the big reveal, was really just a show about the Resistance and got much weaker as it went along. Here, they basically are just getting to the French Resistance portion of the story directly and it actuals seems like it could be more interesting than the original in the telling of that story. So, I was actually encouraged. I'll give it these 4 episodes.

i have fond memories of the original "V", and earlier this week i was excited to see that scifi was replaying the miniseries and the old tv series leading up to this new show. i actually sat and watched "V The Final Battle", and i frankly cant remember watching a more stupid show with an even more stupid ending. i think when it comes to my fond memories of "V", i think they have been distorted by time. i guess back then it was pretty bitchin', but looking on it now, it is loaded with some of the all-time worst acting and dialog i have ever seen or heard.

i thought the new show was alright, but as many others have said, it is going a bit too fast for my taste. seriously, aliens show up and park over major cities, totally blocking the sunlight. that would piss off a lot of people right there. then to imagine that within weeks, people are happily taking tourist trips to the mother ships? nobody is worried about infection or biological disaster from these aliens? people have gotten THAT comfortable with these new visitors, that fast? nah, im not buying it. that being said, its a tv show, and i was mildly entertained.
