Big Fan, did you try Apart Pizza? Just curious about your thoughts.

I did not order it yet, but I will.

I will be revising a Pizza segment somewhere soon, as I do hold myself as an expert on the pizza.

Apart was on my radar because it was new. I will try almost ANY new Pizza place. Even when I was on 95th, knoew I was by the Palermos and got one at 11 AM.

I had Calo's ages ago, and to be honest, I don't remember that much about it. It might be time to revisit them.

I have had Calo's on several occasions (on Clark in Andersonville). I thought they had a very good thin crust but it was just a little greasy.

I forgot about Calo's. When I lived in Andersonville, that's where we'd get our thin crust za. Although my wife would always do the paper towel thing to absorb some of the grease off the top.

I'm suprised none of you mentioned Gulliver's on Howard in Rogers Park/Skokie. The thick crust is better than Gino's/Giordonno's/Uno etc.

And all the stuff on walls and the cool chandeliers.

Yes, Dave's remains open. The pizza is still mediocre and the rest of the menu still sucks.

With a review like that, I'm making reservations for tonight!

Never had the pizza at Dave's Italian Kitchen in Evanston, but they make a really good calzone. They have a few different ingredient combos and you can add anything you want. The large is about the size of 1/2 a large pizza. Good stuff.

Had great pizza the other week. Graziano's in Niles, closest I've had to pizza in Italy, almost perfect

Graziano's is a solid but unspectacular suburban Italian restaurant. They offer bottomless soup and salad with an entree so the old farts flock to it like flies on a dog turd. The entrees are good but not great.

I have had the pizza a couple of times and I thought it was below average. I have not tried the pizza in a while. Maybe they changed things up a little. However, if I am near Graziano's I am also near Barnaby's and Lou Malnatti's so Graziano will rarely get the call.

Grazianos has great salad. The food is uninspired but they are always busy so they don't need to make it better than average.

Man, I can't believe I've always glided over this forum - this thread alone is reason enough to come.

On the bad pizza front, I've heard that about the Costco pizza of late (it used to be pretty good). Here's another place to avoid: Fox's. Had it last weekend, and there was more grease on it than a junior high class photo, absolutely awful.

BF, I saw you put the feelers out for Nancy's, and I'm a huge fan of the thin. Fresh sliced tomato, sausage, and onion will do you right everytime. Their deep dish leaves something to be desired though.

Here's a suggestion to spice up your thin crust pizza (you may want to hang me when you read it, but before you complain you must try it): ranch dressing. Pour a little on the side, and dip a slice/square and try it. It's really good, and gets to be like crack. Or, if you are in the mood for spice, go with hot sauce and parmesan cheese on your pizza (usually best with frozen pizzas).

Thin crust suggestion I got once and loved it:

Bacon

Bacon makes everything a bit better.

My regular joint is Rosario's in Roselle. It's like 2 minutes from my house and makes a good pizza. When I am at my folks, Armands or Caponies.

If your travels take you to Lake Forest, I would not recommend Fetterino's. I guess I should have expected a pizza in the waspiest of the burbs to produce a pie similar to what you would find in England.
