FRIDAY, 8:40am: Mum's still the word from all involved, according to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune. Late last night, Teahen tweeted that he hadn't heard anything official.

THURSDAY, 5:30pm: The story keeps changing. Now, according to MLB.com's Dick Kaegel, neither team has confirmed the deal.

I hope this deal falls apart. Money and prospects are holding up the rumored deal which neither team has confirmed. Besides, Mark Teahen & Chris Getz in particular know nothing about the deal.

I don't like the deal. Besides, Jayson Nix is 2009speak for Juan Uribe and Ozzie didn't like Jayson's free swinging.

I think you have to see what else Kenny has in store before you hate on the deal. If he's picked up payroll (with Dye gone) and lineup flexibilty (finding a home for the ROY) and Figgins is leading off and playing 3rd next year, then it's the right move.

Also official that the Sox have bought out Dye's option for 2010.

Mel Jr., as much as Kenny has coveted Chone Figgins over the years in Anaheim, I have a bad feeling his free agent price tag might be too expensive. Now that Teahen is here, put him at third base and shift Gordon Beckham to second base. Jayson Nix absolutely sucks!

If Nix hits 18-20HRs and plays the caliber of defense that Uribe did in 2005, you won't hear a peep out of me.

Slump.

If they are going to move em, they ought to shake up the whole thing and put Alexei back at his better position of 2nd and put bacon at SS

I don't understand the White Sox sometimes - I guess that's why I'm a Cubs fan. Why wouldn't you put Beckham at his normal position of SS? This makes no sense to me whatsoever.

It's been said that Bacon doesn't have the range to play SS at the major league level. Not sure I believe it, but ....

Looks like the Sox are going thrifty this offseason. KW said in his press conference that there is a big gap with Pods and they're looking other directions.

Here's my guess;
C: AJ
1B: Konerko
2B: Bacon
SS: Alexi
3B: Teahan
LF: Jordan Danks
CF: Rios
RF: Quentin
DH: ??, maybe Flowers and he backs ups AJ?

Based on the rave review that bad boy got on the site, I tried one on Wednesday. With a side salad so I could call it healthy.

My colon has scheduled a 5pm Sunday appointment to pass it. Wish me luck.

Actually, Jayson Nix isn't a sure thing to even be on the White Sox roster, Keyser. I found it awfully curious that Brent Lillibridge, he of the abysmal .150 BA in very limited at-bats, started the final 6 games of the regular season in Cleveland & Detroit once Chris Getz's 2009 season was cut short with the sports hernia. Speaking of Getz, I think the rap against him was his inability to stay fully healthy in the season and a half he played on the South side. I'm still scratching my head over the trade, but I really like the idea of Gordon Beckham starting full-time at second base next year. That's where he should've started when he was recalled last June.

It's all about ROY. If they think his best position is 2B, fine. I'm just not enthralled with Teahen at 3B. He's average at best defensively, doesn't hit for power, doesn't hit for average and he's not fast. I think there were better options available like Dan Uggla, Adrian Beltre or Kevin Kouzmanoff.

As for Nix, he better show he can backup SS and 3B if he wants to make the team because with the move of ROY he won't be getting any innings at 2B.

I just don't understand why not Alexei back to 2nd and ROY to short?

Course, I guess the SS, 3rd, to 2nd worked out for Ryne Sandberg. Though, ROY needs to be better with the glove than Ryno. If he can hit like him though, its gonna be fun to watch.

The best defense in baseball would be one that was coached to their spots and had players with adequate range at the right positions. You'd rarely if ever see a "Web Gem" but they wouldn't concede unnecessary runs.

Alexei has range. Beckham does not. End of story.

Teahen's not a bad 3B, either. Get over it.

Has a 955 fielding average which is below the 970% average for third baggers, not the worse, just below average. It isnt the field play thats going to hurt the white sox, its the awful BA with risp, its the strikeouts with runners on, its his low obp, this guy is a role player, not a starter for a team that is suppose to be going for it all. Sorry, i just think teahen was a so-so player on a real bad team, he is now going to be exposed on a contending team, a 12 pack of your choice says the guy isnt on the white sox a year from now.

White Sox signed infielder-outfielder Mark Teahen to a three-year, $14 million contract.

They bought out his final 2 years of arbitration and 1 year of free agency. It's a good deal for both sides.

I'll take a 12 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon that he will be on the team a year from now. I will also bet that he hits 20 homers this year for the sox. Just as was proven with Josh Fields, any skenotch can hit 20 hrs in that park if the sox are committed to giving them consistent playing time

You know this next White Sox season is going to be exciting when you have a 4+ page thread going about Mark Teahen. This team is going places.

Back in the day, there would have been a 10 page thread on the Deacon.
