Gotta give Mac props. I think he just became the first newspaper writer in literary history to release a book with a ghost writer.

I thought it was always the other way around where the pro athlete hires a newspaper writer to help him write a book ala Bob Verdi and MJ. Don't think I've ever heard a a paid writer needing help writing a book before. Let alone a book of lists!

What's next, is Mac going to hire a radio personality to help him put together a few cogent, non sports-retarded sentences while he is on the air?

The book was released a month ago.

Did it really take you this long to come up with that statement?

Shakes's comment is wrong on two levels, because I'm practically certain that newspaper writers have had books ghostwritten before, and as I said, I highly doubt Mac's book is ghostwritten as they do make an attempt to specify exactly which section is which author's doing. It would be silly to have "Ed Sherman" sections and "Dan McNeil but really Ed Sherman" sections. Ghostwriters' photos don't usually appear on the cover either.

I guess that's the danger though of having a book co-written by a guy that's primarily not a writer and guy that is: people will naturally assume that the writer did most of the writing. I've expressed skepticism over the worth of the book, but I don't know there's any way that they could have handled the situation better in that regard.

The book is fine...a good quick read with laughs...

Chet Coppock's book is really a hoot.....it is great....40 years of Chicago sports with Chet's hysterical slant on things.

Chet's book sucked. That guy has been holding some of the most insignificant grudges for 20+ years now. After reading it, I was not surprised that this guy hasn't found any regular work in this town in about a decade.

Your ghost writer help you with this post Mac, or did you come up with it all by yourself?

The damned book is not all about grudges.....it is historical from his perspective...he is a damned sportscaster.... He takes numerous shots at himself...He is not going to write 'War and Peace"...he is not Tolstoy.....either is Danny Mac....what in the hell do you want from these guys on the air or in writing?
This is ENTERTAINMENT....get your mind off the real world.....Chet's book is Chet's perspective....same with the Danny-Sherman book....
People have to lighten the hell up and laugh or we are all going to morph into SCOREHEAD!!!!

These two books are about the local sports scene...they are a fun read...maybe some folks want to spend their time reading the I.R.S. code.

well we both know that ain't gonna happen.

btw, when you wrote that sentence we're you trying to take a dig at me by implying that I never read a book before? Because, if you did, I can see why you need a ghost writer since the sentence you wrote actually implies that I would be the first person to read your book, not that it would be the first time I ever read a book.

You must be a ditch-digger ... hard to find people that can dig themselves in that quickly and arfully.
