I didn't see one view that showed Miller's hand touching the BASKETBALL (not moint's ball ), after time expired

The overhead shot contained one frame that made it rather evident, through inductive reasoning, that the ball was at least still touching Brad's middle finger as time expired.

I'm not happy about it - would have made a nice story to bridge us to Thursday's Bears game that now will be spent rehashing the same shit on the air tomorrow - but it is what it is. In this case, it wasn't a shot.

I missed that closeup view you're referring to. I saw the overhead shot (and it looked very close). But to overturn the original call? i just didn't see the contact.

And regarding the Miller shot, it was close, almost to close to call. I hearken back to that fateful afternoon in New York when Trent Tucker caught, turned, shot and scored all with .3 on the clock. After that, David Stern told me you cannot catch and shoot with .3 or less on the clock, so I gotta believe the refs made the right call.

The 4th quarter of last night's game had some of the worst officiating I have seen in a long time. Here are just some of things that I remember that were just awful calls:

1. Carmelo Anthony tripping Luol Deng when the ball was heading out of bounds. This happened right in front of the official and was very obvious. I don't know how you don't call a foul there. Deng didn't just fall on his face on purpose.

2. Derrick Rose getting the foul called and getting to go to the line when Denver had a foul to give. He we was not in the act of shooting and should have never gotten to take those two free throws to tie the game originally.

3. Chauncey Billups getting bailed on with 0.6 left on the clock with the foul call. Unless the guy is mugged, you can't call a foul on what would have been the last shot of regulation.

4. The Bulls actually getting the timeout after the Billups intentional miss. How do you grab a rebound and call a timeout and have the clock only go from 0.6 to 0.3. There is just no way that can happen. Game should have ended there.

5. The call on the Miller final shot should have stood. There was no way from any of those angles that showed 100% certain that Brad Miller had the ball in his hands when the clock read 0.0. You need indisputable evidence to overturn a call and I certainly didn't see any. Personally I think it could have gone either way, but if that is the case, the original call should stand.

I don't usually complain about officiating in thr NBA, but last night both teams nearly got dicked over.

i agree with all of that. the officiating was atrocious on both sides. i didnt see enough conclusive evidence to turn that final shot over either. it may have been touching his fingertips and it may not have. it should have stood. nba refs are the worst in sports

I was wondering about that last night - I would assume that conclusive evidence would be needed to overturn the call, but is the standard the same, say, as in football? The final decision by the refs last night would prove otherwise, but I hope the league has something in the rulebook to fall back on when this kind of thing happens in the playoffs

stacey king mentioned last night that there had to be conclusive evidence to turn the call over much like in football. i think thats one of the reasons he was so pissed off on air last night that it was overturned
