A buddy of mine and I have been having an ongoing discussion about who was the better college QB Vince Young or Tim Tebow. He says Young was the better QB and he would take Young on his team every time over Tebow. I say he is crazy and that Tebow is the better college QB. Tebow has the better stats, more championships and more records.

So what say you?

If I had to pick one college QB to win one game, VY would be right up there...maybe my top choice..but definitely ahead of Tebow

Tim Tebow has 3 seasons better than Young's best season.

Vince Young was very good for a season and great in one game. It just happened to be the BCS title game.

I'd take Tebow but his reputation did take a hit when he failed to deliver with a trip to the title game on the line.

2005 Texas. Tebow had a more impressive career (which I guess is my answer to your original post), but Young was a beast that season. Look at the numbers he put up especially when considering how often he was pulled from the game early because they were up by 40

In '05 he threw for 3,036 yards 26 TD's and ran for 1,050 and 12 touchdowns. I'll look up how long he played each game, but I know for sure he rarely played all four quarters. He was an absolute monster.

In 2007, Tebow threw for 3286 yards, 32 tds, ran for 895 and 23 tds(This is probably the greatest statistical season in NCAA history)
In 2008, 2746 yards, 30 tds, ran for 673 and 12 tds
In 2009, 2413 yards, 18 tds, ran for 859 and 13 tds with one more game left to go.

All those seasons are as good or better than '05 with the possible exception of 2009.

Young had a great year in 05, but not only did Tebow have better career years, but his 07 year demolishes Young's year. Look at Tebows numbers:

3286 yds passing 32 TDs Passing
895 yds rushing 23 TDs rushing

4181 total yards 55 TDs

That is just amazing.

Like I put very poorly apparently, Tebow without a doubt had a better career. Just if I had to pick either Tebow or Young for one game, in my mind it's Young.

Again, I will ask you, based on what? When I asked you that last time, you replied 2005 Texas. Did you not mean that? BR and I both showed you that Tebows 07 is way better than Young's 05 season. You like Young if you had one game to win, what do you base that on?

Well, the meatball in me thinks VY has a knack for the moment and will better perform in a one game must win scenario. His performance against USC in the 2005 NC Game was the greatest performance by a college player I've seen when you consider all of the circumstances. He went 30/40 267 yards no TD's or INT's and had 19 carries for 200 yards and 3 TD's. USC won 34 straight games, going for a 3 peat, had Leinert/Bush, a great defense playing for the national championship in their home city. To put on a show like that, sold me.

Tebow against Oklahoma had a solid game, but falls short compared to VY. Tim went 18/30 231 yards 2 tds 2 int and ran for 109 yards on 22 carries. Again, career Tebow>Young..one game, maybe I'm alone here, but give me some Vince Young

nothing wrong with digging vince young as a college quarterback, to to take him over tebow is a head-scratcher to me.

Eh, to each their own. In a one game sample, I think you can make a completely valid argument for either QB.

This isn't even close. Tim Tebow.

i think tebow's been part of a better system and had better players around him. he also was a part of a somewhat gimmicky offense when florida was dominating everyone. granted he was the top dog, but i feel like VY just takes over games...definitely showed that in the national championship game.

It is close, but I think if you put VY in the Florida offense the past few years, he would have dominated.

I pick Vince Young, just because I wouldn't want that sobbing douche on my team.

I've been defending VY here obviously, but no shortage of stories about him crying around

I don't know about this. I think he'd have great running stats but he didn't develop any touch pasing until his final season at Texas.
