This season is a waste. So why try to make it any better by hiring a good coach and have to start paying him now? Del Negro is a nobody. He had no coaching experience coming in, anywhere. Not even college or the CBA or anything. We will either see him get fired on Xmas eve and they put in another nobody to finish the season, or he just finishes out the season sucking it. Then, they try to land a free agent. If they get him, then they pay a good coach.

Good point. Firing Del Negro and finishing the season with the second coming of Jim Boylan really does nothing. I could see if this team was right on the brink of contention for the 7th or 8th spot, but that's not the case. They've clearly regressed for a number of reasons, so firing Vinny at this point would be like placing a band-aid on a gunshot wound. Let him finish out his two years and wave goodbye to him in June. This team won't look the same next season anyway.

If the Bulls want to make news this year, bring in Scottie Pippen to coach. I think he was interested and they might listen to a REAL superstar. What's the difference anyway.

I'm giving Vinny until Saturday to shape up. The SCORE's David Schuster said the other night that the Bulls' investors & shareholders were in attendance when they struggled to beat a just as bad Golden State team Friday night on the West side. I think if the Bulls continue to stink it up tonight vs. the Lakers, Thursday vs. a just as bad Knicks' team and Saturday in a rematch vs. Atlanta, Uncle Jerry will have no choice but to make a move and cut his losses. Bulls' fans deserve better and prospective free agents will want to avoid Chicago just like 2000 if the team doesn't play better basketball.

I called for Thibodeaux the last time around (well, at least for him to receive an interview). Who was beating down Vinny the Black's door that we had to move that quickly? We could have waited a few weeks longer and interviewed Thibodeaux.

I was in this Thibs camp too. He NEEDS to be our next coach. I think he will be a great HC. He was significantly more important to the 2008 Celtics than Doc.

I want a guy that will open up the offense and take advantage of Rose talent. I don't want a defensive hawk. Collins is the guy I want but I could settle for Scott. I'm not sure why many of you like Avery. It is possible he is worse than Vinny.

We disagreed on Collins before. I still dont want him although he would clearly be better than Vinny. Scott would be good for a couple years, but now has a 2 team history of his team quitting on him after a few years ala George Karl. I think Thibodeuax is the answer. Rose desperately needs defensive guidance.

Chew on this for a moment...If I'm the agent representing LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh or any of the high-profile 2010 NBA Free Agents that teams left & right are clearing salary cap space, would you really want to leave the likes of the Cavaliers, Heat, Nuggets and Raptors to play for a really, really bad team like the Bulls, Knicks & Nets, regardless if they're still in New Jersey or relocating to a new arena in Brooklyn? Absolutely, unequivally not...In the Bulls' case, it could be 2000 all over again where they had a lot of salary cap space, and got nothing to show for it. :( No, Ron Mercer doesn't count...

Curious, it's not an ultimatum as much as wanting the Bulls play a hell of a lot better, even though they don't have a great deal of depth. If Derrick Rose's rib injury was a lot more serious last night vs. the Lakers, all bets are off...

What was the rush to hire Vinny the Black and to not interview Thibodeaux? It's not like there was a second team looking at VDN. Paxson should have at least interviewed the Boston assistant.

Do we know what Thibodeaux's contract status was? Was he even actively seeking a head coaching job?

I'm not sure what the status of Tom Thibodeaux's contract was, but I remember that the year the Celtics won it all 2 years ago, he didn't want to be distracted during their title run and nipped all the head coaching talk in the bud. NBA insiders felt that he could've made a solid head coach somewhere, and that might still be the case. You'd think with Boston off to another fast start, Tom's name would resurface as a potential head coach somewhere.

It boggles my mind that anyone would believe tanking this season is a good thing. The primary reason a star player would want to come play here is to compete for a title. A 35 win team isn't a player away from competing. Every star player would rather make more money than playing on a team that may be worse.

Exactly. That's why you hire whoever they choose to be their long term coach NOW.

I find it really interesting though how many different opinions there are on who should be the next Bulls coach. Obviously, I keep saying Van Gundy, but remember the average at best Knicks team he took to the Finals? That's the guy I want.
