You're kidding, right? Unless you're promoting from within, why even pay for a group of lame ducks. No proven coordinator worth his salt is heading to the Lusitania for this ride.

Someone has to be the fall guy.

Just like the Bears are making the playoffs this year too, huh Cof?

I took my hints this last month from somebody named "BPriest2009"

This is the guy who is in charge of developing Cutler right now: He doesn't even have a full Wikipedia page I don't get how he got the job in the first place.

I know you're still quite youthful Spaulding, but I recall quite a bit of non-games "played" :?: by Wanny's crew. Clueless activity isn't exactly "playing"

Will Furrer, Henry Burris, Lewis Tillman....that wasn't football.

No way Turner is back next year. It will be interesting to see who they get to replace him, hopefully it will be someone that Cutler is good with.

Well I can tell you Smith and Babitch are still going to be around so I say like RFDC see yah Turner. All that matters now is who is my team going to have as a head coach next year?

Even in 4-12 years the rankings were better.

1997 NFL Rankings: Offense 17th Overall, 16th Rush, 16th Pass; Defense 12th Overall, 19th Rush, 11th Pass.

2009
Matt Forte is the 39th ranked RB
Devin Hester is the 44th ranked WR
Greg Olsen is the 42nd ranked TE.
Jay Cutler is the 34th ranked QB. He was 5th last year

The team that gets off the bus running is 32nd. Passing is 16th (but with tos in the red zone) and overall 24th. Defense 15th Passing 8Th Running 25th. I don't remember everybody converting 4th and 99 either. Somebody a week or 2 ago was 4th and 3 and said let's go for it. And they got it!!! They have nothing.

I knew Forte was bad this year, but didn't know he was that bad. Shit, 39th means there are backup performing better than he is.

I can only hope that he's having a down year because of how much he was used last year, and has nagging injuries. Hopefully he'll return to his rookie season form next year, because I really don't want to have to find another RB next year too.

What's funny is I'm usually more anti stat. What matters most is wins/losses and how a team is performing. Are they improving, being beat by better teams, talented/not talented, etc.

I seriously thought Olsen was going to be used as another WR type and there are 9 freaking teams with a 2nd string TE that are better. Either he sucks or other teams know how to use their TEs.

I'd take that bet. I go back to my argument in my "Ditka/Meatballs" thread. The problem with Lovie's system is that he needs exceptional football specimens to make it a dominant system. Those are hard guys to find in a draft. So, you end up trying to find exceptional athletes from Fast & Undersized A&M to fill out the rosters that may not be great football players. That's where you end up with the Danieal Mannings of the world.

The Bears need to get back to some big uglies and basic football.

Urlacher's injury this year is evidence. I completely underestimated Urlacher's importance. He is a unique athlete and I underappreciated what he could do. But you see when you don't have a guy that fast to drop back how they can destroy you by splitting the Cover 2 down the middle. How many 3rd and 15s have been hit by running the TE up the seam and beating Roach or whoever's ability to get back and run interference?

I'm no expert but that's how I see it.

Why is everyone taking Mullins opinion as fact? I have no doubt that if you ask everyone at Halas hall if Lovie will be back next year, they all would say yes. I dont think it means anything.

If you are saying 10 wins, I'll say less. How about $50? If I win, I've got a charity and you can choose what you'd want if the Bears win 10.

Only if Lovie is coach. If there is a coaching change, I reserve the right to reassess.

Alright $50 for 2010 if Lovie is coach, winnings to be directed by winner. Done.

Good luck. I hope I lose.

Actually, I hope the bet is not activated when Lovie is fired, but if not, good luck.

Another option for the Bears: Fire Lovie & replace him with a "bargain basement" guy for like a 2 season contract at 1.5/2 million a year. Tell the new coach he has to keep all assistants. That way the Bears have a new coach for just an extra 4 million to placate the village people with the "fire & pitchforks"!. This would work with a promotion from within the ranks of assistants too. Maybe give the Special teams guy a chance to be head coach. It's worked before!

I hate making predictions that I dont like.

It's just evidence that the official, yard-based NFL statistics are garbage.
