This was NOT "the best deal that Hendry could make." Absolutely not. Again, Pat Burrel would have been worlds better. 4th OF, pinch hitter with some pop-- that would mean much more on a national league team than a guy who is going to be lucky to break spring training on a big league roster.

Do you honestly think Hendry said: "Well I have this deal, or this worse one. I'll take the worse one."

Come on Frank, obviously there weren't any better offers out there.

Carlos Silva and a couple million$ is a lot worse off than even money (or eating some $) and getting a better player out of it.

How do you know that was a viable option? Just because you heard a rumor that they talked about it, doesn't mean they were ever close on money. You're assuming a lot. And even then, you are assuming Hendry actively decided to take a worse deal.

This sounds like the same deal Seattle offered during the Winter meetings--with a bit of cash thrown in to make Hendry look a little less worse ($6 mil, if that actually happens).

The cash consideration pretty much equals the M's saying "yeah, we know we're giving you a completely worthless player with a worse than MB contract" in exchange for a guy who could and likely will make a solid contribution the team's offense.

And on a team where the pitchers hit pretty well, Silva's going to be a true black hole in the lineup at the plate--1 for 16 over his last 5 seasons, with 7 strikeouts.

Maybe one day soon Frank will be named GM and we can see what a real GM could do.

I'm disappointed that you knew all of the offers Hendry had and you didn't share with us.

Well for starters, Frank never would have signed Bradley, despite what Bruce Levine said about him be a changed man. Only thing that asshole has changed in the past 4 years is uniforms.

Yea, given Bradley's history, the M's might be wise to move him at the first opportunity. If Bradley plays well and doesn't cause problems April to July, offer him up at the trade deadline--cuz 2 years is too long to bet on Bradley NOT having issues.

Let's not let the facts get in the way of Cubs fan bashing.

There's plenty of Cub fans bashing Hendry too. But I guess some of you don't care because now you have a real fan to run the team, and a brand new ice rink!

Throwing the Ricketts overboard before they've even owned the team for a single pitch of a game seems a bit premature. Wait til Silva's losing every 5th game before deciding the new owners don't have it.

Frank, I'm not seeing ANYONE saying that at all. Show me posts where people are saying that.

I see people bashing Hendry, bashing Ricketts, while others are saying that Ricketts should run this team like a business, not like a fan. I don't see anything that you mentioned.

I'm leaving for awhile. Go ahead and take some time and find me specific posts that back you up.
