I'm hearing Pods is one of three (Ankiel and Byrd)they are looking at for CF. Not sure How I feel about this yet for you Cub fans but He's prpbaby no worse than what you've had. For the right price it may be a good deal.

Everybody that has a possibility to play CF for the 2010 Cubs > Pods

He's awful in every facet of the game. I don't know how he was semi productive last year or in 2005, but I don't want him anywhere near my team.

Thanks, but no thanks. Better off going with Fuld than Pods. The upgrade with Pods at this point in his career, if there is any, is not worth the money when it could be spent upgrading the team elsewhere where it would have far greater impact.

That Hendry is really using his leverage to get Byrd.

I said this in another thread, and I will say it again:

Pods = Joey Gathright minus jumping over cars.

i definitely would prefer sam fuld over pods. not that i prefer to have sam fuld as the starting center fielder but if i had the choice between the two...

If Scotty Pods is a member of the Cubs in any other capacity than bat boy, the Cubs are in serious trouble.

Both Jason Bay and Johnny Damon remained unsigned, which is a little intriguing.

where would bay play? he is a career left fielder. assuming soriano isnt going anywhere, is HE going to play center or right to make room? this move would make no sense, and only add to the craziness to an already strange outfield. if you are gong to sign someone, sign someone who fills a need. dont sign a guy because he is available and try to juggle guys around to make room.

The Bay mention was a reach. I wasn't sure if Bay could play right field. And I know that would mean 3 below average fielders in the outfield, so it's not a great idea.

Certain players are worth moving things around

Bay is one of them IMO

It really doesn't matter. Just let Fuld play. This team is going to be a .500 team plus or minus luck and injuries. That being said, they can either be a 70 win team or a 90 win team, but they will not compete for a championship. I am just waiting for the inevitable salary dump year with lee, aram, soriano, z and lilly coming off the books. Hopefully by that point in time the scouting department and the minor league development staff are replaced. That is the real problem with organization. They have no developmental philosophy. There would not be near as many problems if this team could effectively scout, draft and develop talent. Get someone from the a's, braves, angels or some similar organization where they develop effectively and with a purpose.

Bay in Right

LF is the NL's version of DH

The solution here is obvious...move Soriano to catcher. If Jake Fox can play catcher, so can Soriano.

bay in right, soriano in left and fukudome in center. that makes this team championship caliber? bay is another righty, where does he bat? if you want to sign a lefty power guy, you are at least filling a need. i advocated adam dunn to play right last year, because he filled a huge need in the lineup, even if the outfield suffered. signing bay just loads up the lineup with righties again, which is where we were 2 years ago.
